June 22, 2018 - The Dalmatian islands and Boka Bay shores keep the recipes of the times when sugar and spices were rare in the rest of Balkans. Thanks to developed trade sea routes, such products as vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, saffron, wheat, and sugar were well-known at the Kotor market by the 17th century. And this should have been reflected in cuisine traditions of the area.
