The famous low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle, in the upcoming summer IATA season, added another line from Scandinavia to Montenegro. This is the new Helsinki-Tivat line on which Norwegian will fly once a week, every Tuesday starting from April 16th. From the capital of Finland to Tivat, Norwegian will fly with a Boeing B 737-800 aircraft. In addition to this, during the upcoming summer season for Tivat, Norwegian will fly from Oslo, as well, because the seasonal line for the capital of Norway from our coastal airport has operated for a couple of years.

The biggest air carrier in Europe - German national airline Lufthansa will fly to Tivat Airport from April 13th. They will fly twice a week from Germany to Tivat, on Saturdays from Munich, and on Sundays from Frankfurt. Lufthansa put tickets on sale for its new lines from Germany to Montenegro, where aircraft type Air-type A-319 will operate. The arrival of Lufthansa to Montenegro, which is one of the strongest so-called legacy carriers in the world is of paramount importance for the Airports of Montenegro (ACG) and our tourism industry in general.

ACG firstly succeeded in bringing a member of the Lufthansa group to Tivat airport last summer, the Belgian national company Brussels Airlines, and now the prestigious German airline.

February 12, 2019 - Italy on the Montenegrin Coast is the name of the book by the author, archaeologist Jovan J. Martinovic, presented on Monday, 11 February in the Solidarity Gallery in Kotor.

Numerous visitors welcomed the director of the "Museums of Kotor", Dušan Medin, who said that Martinovic had linked different cultural circles to his research work, connecting lost and present worlds and epochs, as confirmed by dozens of publications, scientific works and texts signed by this author.

"In the monograph 'Italy on the Montenegrin Coast', Jovan J. Martinović was primarily concerned with the architectural heritage of Venice, the masters of the Mediterranean and our coast, from the mid 15th century until its fall in 1797. Through its expert-scientific work, Martinovic has encompassed ten cities and settlements on the coast and in the immediate hinterland: Kotor (Cattaro), Perast (Perasto), Herceg Novi (Castelnuovo), Tivat (Teodo), Budva (Budva), Sveti Stefan , Kastel Lastva or Petrovac (Castel Lastva), Bar (Antivari), Svac (Sovacio) and Ulcinj (Dulcigno). The last part of the book brings a list of origins illustrations by which the author points out the abundance of material he consulted when processing the material," said Medin.

Aleksandar Dender, the president of the Italian Community of Montenegro, who publishes this book, recalled that the links between Kotor, Boka Bay, Montenegro and Italy were powerful for ages.
"Jovan J. Martinovic is an authentic citizen of Kotor, with Kotor in his soul and heart, an archaeologist who discovered the original church of Saint Tripun from the 9th century and the remains of the first Kotor’s cathedral of St. George, with baptism under the church of St. Mathias from the Sixth Century. Thus moved the testimony of Kotor history three centuries ago. At a time when Kotor loses not only its citizens but also its identity, thanks to his work we still have a permanent connection to the incredibly rich history of the city," Dender said.

He said that from Herceg Novi to Ulcinj there are numerous monuments, churches, palaces and entire cities that testify to the ancient presence of Italy in this region.

Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Montenegro, Luca Zelioli, stressed the importance of Jovica Martinović's work, which offered 100-page quality content in which we received a quality review on Venice.

"Italy is today the heir to everything left to us by Venice or Serenissima, also of what Venice used to call Albania Veneta. It is a legacy that deserves to be discovered, protected, upgraded and valorised. It is important to us Italians who are the direct heirs of those who were called the Venetians, as well as for the Montenegrins themselves who are the successors of the Italian legacy in Montenegro. It is the burden of all humanity," Zelioli said.

Author Martinović could not attend the promotion because of illness, and his message was conveyed by the President of the Italian Community of Montenegro Alexander Dender.

Martinovic in his address expressed gratitude to the Italian community who understood the high value of the handwriting, so they decided to allocate funds for its publishing.

"By a special editorial procedure, I made careful engagement and merging of the texts and handed over to the Community a prototype of the manuscript of this consolidated book on Italian Legacy on the Montenegrin Coast," the author said.

In the musical part of the program, the female Klapa "Bellezza" from Tivat performed.

The organisers of the monograph promotion are the Italian Community of Montenegro and the public institution "Museums of Kotor ".

The Organization for the Protection of Film Producers Rights A-rights Montenegro is one of two existing collective organizations dealing with copyright and related rights in Montenegro.

A-RIGHTS Montenegro represents the domestic and foreign repertoire from the domain of audiovisual production. On this basis, there is a reimbursement from the cable retransmission system in Montenegro.

Maja Djondovic, Deputy Director for General Legal Affairs, Operations and International Cooperation and Legal Advisor in the Organization, says that thanks to the initiative of the Organization's leadership a few years ago, the fund for the establishment and construction of the first film studio in Montenegro was launched. Pursuant to the Copyright and Related Rights Law and Statutory Authorizations, each year a certain amount is allocated for this fund. A project supported by the Governing Board of the Organization and the Fund, which already has significant resources collected for the purpose of launching and realizing it.

Djondovic says that, despite the low tariff for cable operators in MNE (the lowest in the region), a really poorly developed domestic film production in MNE, poorly represented repertoire of domestic creators, from both local TV broadcasters and cable retransmission system; the initiative of the fund for construction of the studio is of crucial importance for the improvement not only of the work of filmmakers in MNE, but also for the improvement of the general cultural situation in the audiovisual sector of our small state. There is also the possibility of opening up new jobs, attracting and cooperating with foreign co-production etc. Until now, apart from a few municipalities who have shown interest in participation to the project, in the form of leasing the land for the beginning of the studio’s construction, competent ministries or other state authorities have not yet shown too much interest in engaging in this project.

"We have been supported by the international organizations for years, both in our work and in the support of this important project, but we consider that the state authorities are not sufficiently involved in this very important initiative, a project that would only have positive effects on audiovisual creators in Montenegro in the long run, and to the overall state of the Montenegrin cultural scene. It is clear that this is a project of public interest. To this end, it has been launched," says Djondovic and adds:

"It is important to us from the Organization that at the head of the fund there will be a team that will reliably and transparently invest the collected money for the purpose for which it is committed, with the full support of the state institutions."

A bilateral agreement with the AGICO Alliance was signed

Djondovic says that after several months of negotiations, a bilateral agreement with the AGICO Alliance was signed last Sunday, representing the world repertoire of film production, with the accent on the American, which is mostly used in Montenegrin TV ether. She announces on behalf of the organization that they are largely in the process of opening up new tariff-related negotiations with the cable operators in Montenegro and ultimately implementing the system of collecting private copying fees, as well as keeping an eye on raising awareness of professional and laic public about the system of work and the importance of the existence of collective organizations for the protection of copyright and related rights in general.- Collective organizations are not a business barrier in a system where the rule of law should be the guiding principle of action in every segment of society, especially in the field of the protection of intellectual property rights. That is why we are actively working on transparency and increasing awareness of the specificity and importance of these organizations," concluded Djondovic.

Traveling the world with the sole aim of visiting all the continents for two or three years and finding inspiration for new poems on this journey is the mission of the Canadian poet and the professor of literature Michael Dudley from Ontario, which brought him to Montenegro one month ago.

With the help of his colleagues from the Association of Literates from Bar "Nekazano", Michael was guest at the High Economic and Catering School and talked about his life, the odyssey he endeavored, haiku poetry, and what he experienced, visibly touched, and that young writers from Bar are reading his poems in the original and translated forms.

"It is a great pleasure to be here, in fact, I did not even plan to be in Montenegro, as my trip altogether has no plan, except the next state I'm going to visit. On my journey, my 'pilgrimage', which should take two to three years, I plan to visit all the continents, and the choice of the route depends on the weather and political conditions in the region where I am," Dudley said.

He started his journey eight months ago, by the most logical route from Canada - right to Greenland, where he spent two months, then the same time on the "neighbor" island - Iceland, which he says has incredible landscapes and is completely different from Canada. He continued his Scandinavian tour with a two-month stay in Denmark, where he explored the ancient connections of that country with Greenland, and then "jumped" to the south, to Croatia.

“In elementary school I had a teacher who emigrated from Yugoslavia to Canada, whom I loved and with whom I talked a lot about Yugoslavia, so I knew what to expect in Croatia. The last Croatian station was Dubrovnik, from where I went to Montenegro for which I was not prepared, but I visited the whole Boka Bay, Podgorica, Cetinje, Niksic, Budva, Virpazar. Now I'm with my colleagues, writers from Bar, and I want to see St. Stefan and Ulcinj. Croatia and Montenegro are very similar not only in geography and history but they also have this kind of; I would say, friendliness of the people living here, that familiarity."

At Garo in "Duklja" in the renowned bohemian and artist gathering, in the company of the colleagues from "Nekazano" - Labud Loncar, Srdjan Lekovic and Stevan Stijovic, Michael reveals the most enormous wealth he gains by travelling the world.

"The people! Always the people and everywhere people. Relationships that are created in these contacts on the road are immeasurable treasures, resulting in friendships, impressions for new poems, always new and inspirational."

The father of three children that was born in Toronto proudly said that it is a large city of small communities and a multicultural capital of Canada, on which streets daily communication is carried out in more than 120 languages.

He taught literature for the last 33 years, of which 30 years in one school in the rural, western Ontario. His poems have been published in several countries of the world in books, newspapers, magazines and anthologies, and he is a member of the association "Haiku Canada".

"Haiku is the most specific kind of poetry. All the other genres are characterized by the author's vision, a poet transmitted to the reader, and in haiku poetry, the imprint is created in the reader itself, because the haiku is so imaginative that it is based on images and scenes that it causes. And, yes, it must be created in one breath, two breaths are too long for the birth of a haiku poem," Michael presented his masterpiece in the High School students in Bar.

Answers the questions of students regarding how his stay in Montenegro is inspirational and how many poems he wrote here, the Canadian first showed a big diary in which he records the most diverse observations daily.

"I will come back to these notes later, read all of them, and based on them create poems, so in Montenegro, I record what I see, hear, feel ... There are no poems yet, sometimes from the first to the last hand there are some fifty versions.”

When he closes the covers of the Montenegrin chapter of his poetic-travel adventure, a new destination will undoubtedly be the "southern coast".

“Firstly, it will probably be Albania, and then Greece. I was thinking about Cyprus too... Let's see where the road will take me."

The main nautical season this year in the Port of Kotor started earlier than ever because the first big cruise ship already arrived this year - the brand new “Viking Jupiter” with 640 passengers.

The cruise ship which is on its first, so-called shakedown or trial cruise, only four days ago was handed over to its owner, the Norwegian-American company "Viking Ocean Cruises", at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri in Ancona where it was built.

This company has been operating since 2015 when it started working with its first cruiser "Viking Star", and it is customary to bring all its new ships on the first voyage to Kotor, as was the case with “Viking Jupiter”, the latest 340 million-euro ship from the cruise series led by "Viking Star".

The new ship whose equipment and furniture just peeled off the protective nylon layer, and the interior which still smells of fresh paint, sailed to Kotor by captain Atle Hakon Knutsen.

It is his fifth arrival with newly built ships by the company “Viking Ocean Cruises” to the busiest Montenegrin maritime port, and this time there was the owner of the company, the Norwegian naval magnate Torsten Hagen, who had already built a special relationship with Kotor.

Our port, which was among the first to bring its ships, apparently brought luck to Hagen and his company because “Viking Ocean Cruises” is currently the fastest growing cruising company in the world with a fleet of six new ships, that will be joined in the next few years by another four cruisers made in Italy, as well as two more new expedition cruisers that are made for the "Viking" in Norway.

The director of the Port of Kotor, Captain Branko Kovacevic welcomed the new ship and his 460-member crew, as well as the director of th BCM agency, which represents the "Viking Ocean Cruises" in Montenegro, Captain Goran Macic.

They exchanged appropriate gifts with the commander of the "Viking Jupiter", captain Knutsen, whereby the Norwegian received a painting representing Perast islands of Our Lady of the Rocks and St. George, which made Knutsen very happy because these two islands in Boka are one of the most beautiful attractions and motives which travelers keep as their longest and most precious memories.

The delegation from Montenegro was able to visit the new 227-meter-long and 28-meter-wide cruiser of 47,800 gross tons, with the unique honor of visiting the command bridge of this ultramodern ship which is characterized by a high degree of automatization.

"Viking Jupiter" is designed in accordance with the latest "Safe Return to Port" (SRtP) requirements of SOLAS Convention, which means that the ship is capable of safely returning to the nearest port even in the event of a major fire, without the evacuation of passengers and crew in case of emergency, or penetration of water caused by damage to the hull.

The boat is also ecologically powered by an advanced diesel-electric hybrid drive that, along with the optimized form of the underwater hull part, which allows a high cruising speed of 20 knots with the reduced fuel consumption and "Viking Jupiter" also has additional solar power panels, state-of-the-art technology for the treatment of solid waste and waste points, while for the lubrication of bearings in the hulls of its propellant shafts, this ship does not generally use biodegradable oils, as is the case with other vessels, but the seawater itself.

11 February 2019 - NGO Fit Woman Montenegro, in cooperation with the Day Centre for children with disabilities from Herceg Novi, organized a seminar on the topic "Importance and benefits of animal-assisted therapy".

Animal-assisted therapy, which was the main topic of the lecture, is a therapeutic intervention that incorporates animals, such as horses, dogs, cats, pigs, and birds, into the treatment plan. It is used to enhance and complement the benefits of traditional therapy.

Employees in the Day Centre were able to hear a fascinating one-hour seminar delivered by Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Alina Denis Kizgin from Romania, who is also a member of the Fit Woman Montenegro organization. The lecture taught the employees how animals could provide a sense of calm, comfort, or safety and divert attention away from a stressful situation and toward one that gives pleasure. Advocates of animal-assisted therapy explained how developing a bond with an animal can help people develop a better sense of self-worth and trust, stabilize their emotions, and improve their communication, self-regulation, and socialization skills. According to Dr Kizgin, many studies and practical experiences have shown that therapeutic animals can positively affect people with disabilities, especially children and youth. Time spent with therapeutic animals among other things improves the health, mood, confidence, as well as the overall social life of persons involved in the therapeutic process.

“This lecture is a continuation of the good cooperation that we have established with the Day Centre, we believe that we will continue to conduct joint activities that will benefit the Day Centre and its citizens, "said Esma Cerinan Otović and Šule Kadan Turkel, the founders of Fit Woman Montenegro. Encouraging women to lead a healthy life and to be actively involved in the presence of the community are the main goals of Fit Woman Montenegro, an organization that has quickly gathered a large number of women in a variety of professional orientations, ages, and backgrounds.

At Karanfil, one of the mountain massifs of Prokletije near Gusinje, not far from the valley Grebaje, there is a several thousand years old glacier, about which we know very little.

A famous hiker and guide to numerous expeditions that have been coming to the heart of the mountains in recent years from various meridians, Ahmet Rekovic, explains that the glacier is "far from the eyes and hands of anyone who could hurt him."

"This old glacier seems to be lonely there, located in Lower – Veliki Kotao. The snowman, as the mountaineers call it, is thousands of years old. This was confirmed by scientists who had been conquering him five decades ago, but with whose death as if the interest in recording and studying it from the professional side died as well," Rekovic told “Vijesti”.

According to him, as in the words of many other mountain lovers, the Gusinje glacier is located at the lowest altitude in the Balkans and perhaps even wider area.

"This glacier was formed at an altitude of only 1,600 meters. It's beautiful, there is no such beauty anywhere," says Rekovic. He explains that the glacier at the foot of the South Peak of Karanfil is accessible only to those skilled ones with assistance by the guides, and they can climb to it.

Previously, you needed to get from Gusinje to the valley Grebaja by an asphalt road seven kilometers long.

"Then from the last meadow in Grebaja, to the glacier, for those who want to see this miracle of nature they need to walk for only one hour and a half to get to it."

Rekovic tells the story of how the "view" just rests on the glacier 400 meters wide and about 800 meters long.

"As if someone hid it under the rock Koplja, whose vertical is about six meters high. The thickness of the ancient ice never, even at the time of the indescribable heat, drops below fifteen meters, which is its height at the end of August. Otherwise, the glacier is over thirty-meters-high in spring and ideal for skiing during the summer season," says Rekovic.

He points out that when one from the plus 30 degrees summer comes in the so-called scattering, at the place where the glacier cracked, he can hardly withstand the coldness which exists within it.

You should see that beauty, the shades of the colors of ice, that speak of its age. This glacier deserves to be studied in detail by geologists and other scientists."

Rekovic does not know the answer to the question of how many meters the glacier grows in the winter. "Then there are blizzards at Prokletije, and the whole mountain is covered with snow and ice. While most of the snow melts during the summer, the sun could not do anything to this glacier for thousands of years.

The old mountain hiker recalls that the massif Prokletije represents a mountain wreath in the eastern Montenegro, Kosovo and northern Albania.

Encyclopedia records say that Prokletije is a tall mountain wreath on the southeastern edge of the Dinara Mountains.

Gigantic massif has a total length of 417 kilometers. In fact, the unusual ridge, rich in crystal-clear mountain rivers, lakes and valleys above which proudly dominate the crumbling wreaths, makes the natural border between Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania.

The highest peak of Prokletije, Jezerski peak 2,694 meters above sea level (Albanian Maja Jezerce), is located on the territory of Albania and is at the same time the highest peak of the Dinara mountains.

By the end of this semester more than 5,000 children will visit, free of charge, the National Museum on Cetinje and the Royal Theatre Zetski Dom, where plays will be held for them, stated the Ministry of Education.

They said that the children will visit these two cultural institutions in the organization of the Ministry of Education and Zetski Dom, with the support of the National Museum.

"Children will be able to talk with the actors of Zetski Dom and thus get acquainted with the play," said Minister of Education Damir Šehovic and Artistic Director of the Royal Theater Zetski dom, Lidija Dedovic.

The Ministry of Education explained that visits are organized within the project called the Day of Art Education, which began last year, when several thousands of children visited Zetski Dom free of charge.

The Ministry of Education and Zetski dom, considering excellent results, decided to continue this activity, so even in this semester, about two thousand children will visit the cultural institutions in Cetinje.

"By the end of this semester, more than five thousand children from 30 schools across Montenegro will participate in the project. Eighth and ninth grade students of the elementary and first grade of the secondary schools from all parts of Montenegro are participating," said the Ministry of Education.

They suggested that the possibility of this activity becoming constant should be considered in order to stimulate critical thinking of children and interest in art. Šehović said that the Ministry of Education insists on creating a completely new atmosphere in educational institutions, which builds not only a connoisseur, but a person with an attitude about what is nice, good and quality, whether it is music, film, theater or any other form of cultural creativity.

"The most concrete way we can achieve this goal is the organization of such projects. The students participating in the project come from the eighth and ninth grade of elementary schools and the first grades of high school, i.e. in the period of life when we have to offer them much more than the chair lectures," Šehovic said.

He said that introducing children to Cetinje, entering the theater, insights into the work of actors behind the scenes, understanding what the artist is trying to send, learning to look under the surface and profiling the taste, is just a part of what they are trying to achieve with such projects.

"A similar project with the high school from Danilovgrad is being prepared, which will soon be announced to the public, which again shows the full focus of our students coming out of schools as a quality person with a constructive attitude towards the environment and the capacity to review the matters before adopting the same," Šehović concluded.

During the visit, children are provided with free of charge transportation organized by the Ministry of Education as well as free lunch packages.

"We combine culture and education into a new, practical mission. It is our great honor and pleasure to participate in a project that has proven to be extremely successful," said Dedovic. She believes that children must have a critical attitude toward society.

"We appreciated that with this age, the end of the elementary school and the beginning of high school, we can start a new process. Zetski dom was a library and an archive, and by doing this, we are returning the historic, practical mission to it. The children are thrilled, they talk to respectable artists, plays are being performed for which we think the children are ready to develop their attitudes toward life and a new emotional world through them," Dedovic said.

The director of the school "Milorad Musa Burzan", Andreja Sokić, said that a modern school is a key link between education and culture.

"What they learn within regular art lessons now they can experience as well," said Sokic. Such projects have a key impact on the development of the artistic taste of children in a sensitive period of growing up. Three hundred students from our school will participate in the project," Sokic said.

The Association of Durmitor’s skorup (clotted cream) producers submitted a request to the Ministry of Rural Development and Tourism to register for the designation of origin, and the procedure is in the final phase.

HM "Durmitor" from Žabljak, the largest sheep farm in the Balkans and leading in the Association of producers of Durmitor skorup, says that by gaining the logo and the national emblem, a long-known food product will contribute to the promotion and recognition of the region from which it comes and will protect it from abuse and imitation.

"In addition, it will enable the increase of the market value of the product, increase consumer confidence, and most importantly the tradition will be preserved. Durmitor’s skorup is produced on a geographically clearly defined territory, which is the territory of three Durmitor municipalities, Zabljak, Pluzine and Savnik, occupying an area of 1,852 square kilometers, which makes 7.5% of the territory of Montenegro. This area is rich in plant species, plants of endemic and relic origin, floral flora, healing herbs, with large pasture lands and natural meadows where livestock are grown and nourished," says Dragana Obradovic from the company HM "Durmitor".

She estimated that by the registration of the origin, the Durmitor’s skorup would be a strong competitor on the domestic and foreign market, which would bring great benefits to the producers.

Durmitor’s skorup is produced with a traditional technology that is passed from generation to generation. The product has specific characteristics, taste, appearance and scent, and belongs to savory foods of high nutritional and energy value.

HM "Durmitor" counts about 1,000 milking sheep - autochthonous “pramenka”, during the summer, takes them to Dobri do, where they have facilities that meet all the legal requirements for the production of skorup. To make sure that skorup is prepared by the old recipe that is passed from generation to generation is liable the chief mountaineer Dragana Zeković.

"The milking of sheep is handled manually, and then we transfer the dishes with the milk to the dairy. Here the process of production, filtering, boiling and pouring of the milk are being carried out, as well as the process of making the cream (skorup). Then it is followed by the storage of skorup in wooden pots and salting. The process of its ripening is followed by transferring to “mjesine” to achieve additional ripening and obtain “skorup from mjesina” or 'old skorup'," reports Zekovic about the recipe for preparing Durmitor’s skorup and recalls on “saljevak”, “skorup” and “cheese-prljo” for which the Ministry has officially approved and acknowledged for their application of traditional methods in production.

Owner of "Ski" hotel Jovan-Rajo Baranin and his colleague from "Golden Pine" Radovan Bojović point out that they are satisfied that the well-known agricultural product from Durmitor will get a prestigious mark. They say that in the future in their hotels they will undoubtedly offer Durmitor’s skorup. Its logo and emblem will guarantee it, both to them as buyers and to the guests as well.
