April 23, 2018 - Cetinje is the secondary capital city of Montenegro and is the 'Historic Royal Capital'. The town is famous because the field (Cetinje field) is surrounded by the most legendary mountain in Montenegrin history – Mount Lovćen. It is one of the oldest cities of Montenegro, and due to its tradition and heritage, Montenegrins like to call it “the cradle of Montenegrin culture.”

All tourists that come to Montenegro hope to visit Cetinje. Their urge comes from how Montenegrin people cherish their history. As they like to say, Cetinje has a special kind of glow – “a glow that only the smallest European capitals can have.”

A walk through Cetinje gives testimony to historical and political conditions that were unique for the past times of Montenegro. Its extensive history leaves tourists stunned, notably the Palace of King Nikola, which reveals the ideals, wanderings and circumstances of essential Montenegrin dynasties. The Palace of King Nikola today is a museum with authentic artifacts that provide a particular kind of insight into the lifestyle of Montenegro’s Royal Family. The Palace has nineteen rooms with collections that include armory, weapons, flags, medals, photographs, utensils, clothing and personal items. Due to its remarkable “crumbs of history,” Cetinje is usually called the spiritual heart of Montenegro.

Named after Saint Peter of Cetinje, the Cetinje Monastery is a place that holds many relics: the remains of Saint Peter of Cetinje, the particles of the True Cross, the right hand of John the Baptist, the icon of the Philermos Mother of God and royal crown of Serbian King Stephen Uroš III Dečanski. During the war, the Monastery was profoundly damaged several times, but time after time it was reestablished by the Royal Family of Montenegro.

The Memorial Museum "Biljarda" also provides insight into the circumstances where great Montenegrin ruler, writer and philosopher, Petar II Petrović Njegoš, made necessary decisions crucial for Montenegrin history.

Cetinje is, indeed, the perfect historical getaway from all the crowds away from Montenegrin cities like Budva or Tivat during the summer. The town gives you the feeling that you've met Montenegro as it was centuries ago.

Tourists can now experience this lovable location through an Electric Car Sightseeing Tour. The project, which is the result of the cooperation between the Royal Capital and the Tourist organization “Marko Vujanovic,” aims to improve the tourist offer of Cetinje and reduce the harmful exhaust emissions.

Sightseeing is possible on warm summer days to provide all tourists and visitors with a panoramic city tour. The value of the two purchased vehicles is estimated to be around forty-six thousand euro.

The first test drive was taken on the 21st of April, with several tourists from Italy present. The tourists were overjoyed, and they mentioned that the tour really allowed them to meet Montenegrin culture. They added that the weather provided them with the opportunity to enjoy the ride and meet the Montenegrin landmarks.
