Born in the family of musicians, he began his education in his native Yerevan (Armenia), and continued at the Conservatory in Moscow and the New England Music Conservatory in Boston. He learnt how to play the cello also by the famous Mstislav Rostropovič, whose foundation provided him with the scholarship. He entered the international scene in 2011, when he won, as a 22-year-old, at the 14th International Competition “Tchaikovsky”.

"It is our great pleasure to start presenting artists for this year's Festival. The program that will be implemented in July and August was mostly agreed during the previous year, and early contracting and presentation of the program is a practice and standard for the manifestations of our profile in Europe and critical not only from the aspect of culture but also tourist offer. Among other things, this is also evidenced by the recent acknowledgment by KotorArt: EFFE Label - the European Quality Seal for Art Festivals as well as the "Wild Beauty" awards for the best manifestation in Montenegro for 2018. Narek Hakhnazaryan is an outstanding artist, with incredible energy and musicality, whose solo recital on the cello of the works by J. S. Bach, which is rarely heard, we are all eagerly waiting. His concert will be a kind of culmination of the entire Kotor concert season, which from November to June in our city is organized by KotorArt and the Music School "Vida Matjan", and which this year is dedicated to the cello," said Sara Lakicevic, PR of the Festival.

Narek Hakhnazaryan

Hakhnazaryan has played with world orchestras such as the London, Chicago, Detroit, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Rotterdam, Seoul, Helsinki and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Marinski Theater Orchestra and the Milan Scala, establishing a cooperation with conductors such as Gergiev, Jarvi, Spivakov, Pletnev, Robertson et al. He held recitals in the world's leading halls and plays the cello, which was built in 1707 by Joseph Guarneri. This will be his first visit to Montenegro.

This year's KotorArt Festival Don Branko Days of Music will be realized under the auspices of Kotor Municipality and the Ministry of Culture as well as with the help of numerous sponsors.

March 27, 2019 - "Montenegrin lighthouses as destination icons" is the scientific monograph by Doc. Dr Andjela Jaksic-Stojanovic (Mediterranean Univesity, Montenegro) and prof. Dr Nevena Seric (the Faculty of Economics, University of Split) which recently emerged from the press.

The monograph is the first original research on the theme of lighthouses in Montenegro, and the Ministry of Science provided support for the realisation of this idea.

"The monograph is conceived so that in the introductory part it is given a description of the lighthouses and their significance through history: from the first in the port of Alexandria (II-III century BC) to today. It follows the display of lighthouses all over the world which are adequately valued and represent one of the key factors of the attractiveness of individual tourist destinations. It also presented the project "Stone lights" realised in Croatia, which has successfully integrated tourism, ecology and sustainable development by this valuable cultural and historical heritage and has set new standards for the future development of Croatian tourism. In the final part, a lighthouse fund in Montenegro was presented, as well as a presentation of the most important lighthouses from the historical, cultural, tourist and other aspects which would have been significantly enhanced by the quality of cultural and tourist offer of Montenegro by adequate valorisation," says Jaksic Stojanovic.

In the announcement of the publication, the authors state that they "are aware of the importance of the Montenegrin Lighthouses Fund from the cultural, tourist, artistic, historical and many other aspects" having in mind the experiences of other countries and the fact that in many of them "the lighthouses became a kind of destination icon and the key factor for attracting tourists ".

Apart from analysing the existing and collecting new information about the Lighthouse Fund of Montenegro, authors have also given concrete proposals for its adequate protection, promotion and valorisation through the application of different art forms, as they believe that they can link culture, tourism and art.

"Lighthouse tourism has begun to develop as a special form of tourism in the last few years, attracting an increasing number of tourists around the world, and therefore an adequate valorisation of this important segment of cultural heritage can be of great importance not only at the national but also at the regional and international level. It should be mentioned that there are spectacular examples of lighthouses around the world that have become destination icons - many of them are turned into mini-hotels, museums, galleries, idyllic venues for wedding, celebrations, receptions," says Jaksic Stojanovic and points out that the Montenegrin Lighthouse Fund must first be adequately protected to speak about its valorisation and promotion.

"All future activities must be based on the principles of sustainable development, the protection of cultural and historical heritage as well as environmental protection, because we can only talk about long-term development that will bring the expected benefits. Any commercialisation that deviates from these principles may further jeopardise this vulnerable and inadequately protected segment of cultural heritage, so it is imperative to work on the preparation of an adequate strategy for the protection, promotion and valorisation of the lighthouse fund at the highest level, involving experts from different profiles," she suggests.

The author points out that it is necessary to devise an entirely new, original and innovative concept, and some of the proposals are the application of various art techniques which will, by taking care of the protection of the lighthouses, make them more attractive.

"That's why the folk costume is one of the models and involving the engagement of artists from all over the world who, using land art techniques, using natural materials, dressed lighthouses in their national costumes. Also, other models of valorisation have been proposed, such as the application of video mapping techniques, whereby the island of Mamula and the entire environment would be transformed into a huge screen on the water where film projections, music projections, festivals would be performed. There are also many other solutions, such as art installations, the inclusion of a lighthouse in the scene of musical festivals, etc.," adds Jaksic Stojanovic and adds:

"How to set the lighthouses? My advice is to read this interesting monograph and enjoy the views of the lighthouses, their history, the legends related to their past, their beauty and the harmony with nature-at least a fraction of how much the authors enjoyed while working on the monograph. For starters, it is more than enough."

Andjela Jaksic Stojanovic points out that the work on this monograph was a scientific-research challenge because there is no adequate database on the lighthouse fund as well as data on their characteristics, year of construction, legends and stories related to their past.

"Those little available data are in archives and old writings, as well as in the stories of sailors and lighthouse workers. Also, lighthouses in Montenegro are not adequately protected, so their fate in modernisation is very uncertain. For this very reason, the work on this project was very challenging because apart from the analysis of archive material, nautical maps, available internet sources, it included conversations with historians, art historians, seafarers, lighthouses, locals and others, to reach additional data and information that are relevant to the processing of this topic. In addition to highlighting lighthouses and gathering data that are important for their future valorisation, a professional photo base of the lighthouse fund has been developed for the first time in Montenegro, which is of immense importance for their future promotion," the author says.

27 March 2019 - There are many reasons why you'd want to visit Montenegro, the most beautiful coastline, dramatic history, the mountains that rear up to meet the sea and a crystal clear bay. Still, this country has recently worked on significant improvements in the number and quality of hotels, so now is a great time to visit this Mediterranean gem and enjoy the luxury that leads to a perfect holiday.

According to the recent data published by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, the number of hotels in Montenegro in 2018 increased by 25.

The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism stated that the newly opened facilities that have 1985 units in total are mostly luxury high-class hotels.

Within the reports by the Ministry, it is explained that six new hotels built in 2018 have a service that meets five star standards and nine hotels have four stars. In the total number of new hotels, 24% of all units meet the requirements of five-star services, and 36% meet those of the four-star hotels.

"The number of beds in five-star hotels is 50,48 per cent of the total unit number, and the beds in four-star hotels make up 21 per cent of the total number of beds in hotels that started working in 2018," the Ministry's document said.

The newly opened hotels include Perla Residence (Podgorica), Hotel Rivijera – Iberostar (Herceg Novi), Hotel Jadran – Iberostar (Perast), Hotel Holliday Village Montenegro (Ulcinj), Hotel Chedi – Luštica Bay (Tivat) and Hotel Lazaret (Herceg Novi).

Furthermore, when it comes to the categories that foreign tourists at the global level mostly look for in Montenegro, eight hotels have three stars and two facilities have two stars.

The Ministry believes that the growth of the structure of accommodation capacities of high category, as the most important segment of the tourist product, has been particularly contributed by numerous stimulus measures.

These stimulus measures include the abolition of the obligation to pay utility bills for building a four and five star hotel, reducing annual real estate tax to 30 per cent for hotels with four stars, reducing annual real estate tax up to 70 per cent for five-star hotels in priority tourist sites, and lifting the obligation to pay an import VAT for products and services related to the construction of five-star hotels and a low VAT rate of only 7 per cent for hotel accommodation.

26 March 2019 - The Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone of Montenegro in cooperation with the Municipality of Budva plans to deal with the most valuable walking space in this town - promenade from Budva to Bečići and to solve this through the development of a quality permanent plan, said Predrag Jelušič director of this public enterprise. He expects the project to be estimated at 10 million EUR.

The Coastal Zone of Montenegro is planning to invest significant funds for international competition tender for the selection of the best architectural and visual solution of the Lungo Mare promenade, from Sole Mio in Budva to Plavi kamen in Rafailovići.

"It will be a very challenging job for both companies and local government. I believe that we will all be equally committed to choosing a quality solution because Lungo Mare promenade should have a completely different form and a different tourist offer," said Jelušić.

He believes that after the promenade in Tivat and Pet Danica in Herceg Novi, and the promenades in Čanje and Sutomore, now it is Budva's turn to reconstruct its own.

"I believe that Budva is ready to reconstruct this space in a quality way and that this will become a permanent solution that will be full for at least nine months of the year. This way promenade will have its own life and suitable premises that will be able to promote tourist offer and application on its own. Budva will gather many more tourist in this way for both the town and for Montenegro," pointed out Jelušić.

He also added that the perfect example of how Montenegrin coast should look alike and the model for other coastal towns to look into is promenade in Tivat.

"This project will be financially demanding, but it will also be a big benefit to hotel chains in the area, such as the hotel group Budvanska rivijera and other venues that are in the interest of making the promenade according to the most up-to-date standards," stressed out Jelušić.

"I am expecting full commitment from local tourism organizations, because management of this destination is crucial for our city. The tourists want to see every city segment working at its best, from parking to horticulture," Jelušić concluded.

26 March 2019 - Olive oil created by Montenegrin company "13. Jul Plantaže" received an award for quality at the International Manifestation of Olive Growers and Olive Oil Producers held in Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina from March 21 to 24.

The representatives of Plantaže were proud to announce that by competing at the 21st International Manifestation of Olive Growers and Olive Oil Producers Nočnjak 2019, organised by the Association of Cooperatives Dalmatia, the company won a bronze medal for the quality of their Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

After evaluating the quality of a large number of samples of olive oil from the Mediterranean area, of which 136 samples were in the same category as Plantaže - the category of golden oils, the expert judges awarded the Montenegrin company’s olive oil with the bronze recognition.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil by 13. Jul Plantaže Awarded With Bronze Medal 2

The representatives of the company are satisfied and proud of the achieved result, bearing in mind that this is the first competition and the award for Plantaže when it comes to this particular product.

“This recognition has a special emotional value for us, bearing in mind that when we first started the realisation of our vision regarding olive oil, we have been challenged among the olive growers of the region. There was an opinion that the ground of the Ćemovsko field was not compatible with olive seeds and that in this production we could not achieve good results. As many times so far, Ćemovsko field has proven to be an excellent host, who, thanks to the richness of its soil, provides excellent conditions for the cultivation of these subtropical cultures," said the representatives of the company.

The company “13. Jul Plantaže” has about 13.000 olive trees in its plantations, of which most are of the leccino variety, as well as of the Istrian white olive, arbequina and maurina. With the special care and nurturing, as well as handpicked fruit, the most refined processing on cold pressing presses resulted in a harmonious, piquant noble taste, which experts evaluate with the highest grades.

According to official data, the consumption of olive oil in Montenegro is relatively low and amounts to 0,5 litres per person. The data show that Montenegrin neighbours, the Croats, use an average of two litres of olive oil annually, unlike the Greeks, which in average use about 20 litres a year per capita, or the Spaniards and Italians using 11 litres.

“Our intentions and wishes are that Montenegro, the homeland of the oldest olive tree in the world, gets highly positioned in the world based on olive growing, rounding off its authentic wine - gastronomic story," said the PR service of Plantaže.

26 March 2019 - Minister of Sports and Youth Nikola Janović said that the last night's football match between Montenegro and England, which has been seen as a sports festival in the country, is trying to be presented as sports game that contained incidents, but there has never been, and there will be no basis for racism, chauvinism, and nationalism in Montenegro.

"If a group of individuals really sent inexplicable messages, I strongly condemn it on behalf of the Government and the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and I say that there is no and there can be neither justification nor understanding in Montenegro for those people. As a former sports player, athlete and now as a Minister, during conversations with the foreign public I say that in my country there has never been, and there will be no basis for racism, chauvinism, and nationalism," Minister Janović stressed.

The Minister recalled that Montenegro is a civilized state, the only one that has gone through the horrors of the nineties without a war on its territory, the only one in the neighborhood that genuinely and thoroughly has been cherishing multi-ethnic and multi-confessional life for centuries.

"Our clubs and our national teams, our Government, our cities and villages and our families are the fortresses of the richness of our diversity. The spirit of my country was shown in a carnival atmosphere in which this match and the previous matches were awaited in the streets of our capital city both by domestic and foreign fans, applauding the anthem and the visiting team's players even when they scored. As well as the mutual joy after the match without any incident," Minister of Sports and Youth Nikola Janović emphasised.

March 26, 2019 - The protest “Odupri Se - 97,000” organizers reported that they received from the Democratic Front (DF) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) proposals for amendments to the Agreement on the Future Draft. As they rate it, it is an excellent way to continue cooperation with a view to resolving a severe political crisis.

"Some parties have already basically supported the draft Agreement, with the only common effort to reach a document that will be acceptable to all. We called on the leaders of parliamentary opposition parties to convene a joint meeting on Wednesday (27 March). Tens of thousands of citizens have sent a clear message to the domestic and world public that changes in Montenegro are inevitable and unavoidable," the protest organizers said in a statement.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) today submitted to the organizers of the protests the proposal of the points from the Agreement on the Future Draft, which they consider acceptable to all 39 opposition delegates, as well as representatives of the "Odupri Se- 97,000" movement.

Democratic Front (DF) sent a proposal on the joint action of representatives of all parliamentary opposition parties and opposition deputies with the message "Let's Agree!".

"We are beginning the next cycle, preferably as far as the public is concerned, to find a common denominator," Dzemal Perovic told the opposition parties on March 23, from the sixth protest of citizens in Podgorica.

"There is another round of consultation with opposition political parties, which began with the DF, with a view to achieving a minimum of agreement on common points. It is no longer white paper because we do not have time to lose. I believe everything will be agreed upon Wednesday," Perović told Vijesti.

A new round of consultations began after DF asked for “white papers” to go, matching the previously proposed Agreement on the Future, which the protest organizers forwarded to the parliamentary opposition, marking it as a roadmap for a peaceful transition to government.

This document requires, among other things, the formation of the Government of Civil Unity, which would prepare fair and free elections, involving parties of the authorities, opposition and independent intellectuals.
"After yesterday's consultations with the representative of the organizers of the protest "Odupri Se," the Democratic Front sent a Proposal on the Joint Action of Representatives of All Parliamentary Opposition Parties and Opposition Members, "Let’s Agree!", which we firmly believe will contribute to overcoming misunderstandings and enable joint action in realization proclaimed goals," the DF reported.

Agreement on the Future - DF proposal: "Let's Agree!"

"Starting from the fact that Montenegro is in a deep socio-political crisis that escalated with the "Envelope".

Aware of the great responsibility of Montenegrin citizens who are protesting for the resignation of leaders of the regime.

Bearing in mind the justified expectations of citizens and the opposition of the public for the unique action of the parliamentary opposition and various associations that formally organize protests.

Bearing in mind the political, ideological and program diversity of all those who support the protest

Opposition parties and opposition deputies in the Assembly of Montenegro with this document:

Strongly support the demands of the organizers of the "Odupri Se- 97,000" protest seeking resignations of President Milo Djukanovic, Prime Minister Duško Marković, Supreme State Prosecutor Ivica Stankovic, Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić, Anticorruption Agency Director Sreten Radonjić, Director of Public Media Service RTCG Božidar Šundić and the Public Service Managing Board;

They affirm that under these totalitarian conditions they will not go to the next elections;

They advocate for the formation of a Technical Government that would provide conditions for maintaining free and democratic general elections;

They express readiness on continental communication and cooperation in an atmosphere of mutual trust, without exclusivity and condemnation, both politically and operationally, of all opposition parliamentary parties and delegates with representatives of the organizers based on the above-stated goals," says DF.

Agreement on the Future- SDP Proposal: Text Acceptable for Everyone

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has submitted to the organizers of the protests the proposed item from the Future Agreement document, which they consider acceptable to all 39 opposition delegates as well as representatives of the protest campaign "Odupri Se- 97,000", said today.

SDP said they did so after a detailed analysis of the "Future Agreement" and consultations within that party.

SDP believes that full support for justified protests and citizens' demands is all acceptable, as a form of over-institutional pressure to achieve full democratization of the Montenegrin society and the release of captive institutions, which is only possible through the necessary personnel changes.
In that party, it is considered that the proposal for a technical government is acceptable, whose primary task is to create conditions for fair and democratic elections with a consistent change, based on broad consensus, reformed electoral and other legislation;

SDP statement states that a boycott of all subsequent parliamentary, local and presidential elections is acceptable if the necessary conditions for establishing the Technical Government as the only legal-political guarantor for fair and free elections are not fulfilled;

It is also estimated that it is acceptable for all to develop a professional, independent and responsible Public Service (RTCG) through impartial management and legal work of the Council, which is only possible through radical personnel change and return to the status before unlawful judicial decisions on the removal of members of the Council and editorial board.

As they said, in the SDP, they kept on suggestions they believe to be acceptable to all opposing political entities and can thus lead to the necessary agreement on how to resolve a severe political and institutional crisis.
"We are convinced that such an agreement will be expected of citizens and the democratic public and that we will be by these principles to have an understanding of our international partners."
