24 August 2018 - "Mountain Bike Day on Orjen" gathered 17 cyclists last weekend, some of them even had electric bicycles, who successfully passed the challenging ten-kilometer climb through the macadam road.

"While the people of Herceg Novi 'cooked' yesterday at 36.7 degrees Celsius, participants of the 'Mountain Bike Day on the Orjen' had the privilege of enjoying just a little above 21 degrees Celsius, under the clouds, at 1600 meters high at Orjensko sedlo. They drove through the dense beech forest, while at the end of the journey, the group ended up at the panoramic part of the road, where recently finished resting stops were organized with the refreshments. The crown of the tour was the Orjensko sedlo itself, with spectacular views and a homely atmosphere in the mountain huts," said the organizers of the event – the Agency for Development and Protection of Orjen.

Cyclists visited an attractive Snow pit where participants were served ice cream made from still present snow and berries, which, during these warm days, is an attraction you do not want to miss.

"The goal of the event is to encourage this kind of visit to Orjen, especially because its infrastructure of macadam roads and an interesting environment certainly deserves attention. A bicycle ride is an ecological way of touring and it is perfectly in line with not only global tourism trends, but also with Orjen as a protected area," representatives of the Agency concluded.

The event was organized by the Agency for Development and Protection of Orjena, in cooperation with the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Secretariat for Social Activities and Sports, the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi, the Herceg Novi Border Police Department, the Herceg Novi Protection and Rescue Service and the mountain club "Subra". The Protection Service and the Border Police provided bike circuits and provided additional logistical support, while members of "Subre" prepared fried dough, homemade soup out of nettle and refreshments.
