21 August 2018 - The best time to visit northern Montenegro depends on the weather conditions and that is why last year’s summer season hit record levels, whereas this year, Northern Montenegro witnessed many rainy days. Regardless of the weather, the occupancy rate in Žabljak in August reached record levels.

Živko Taušanović, president of the hotel owners association, says that if it had had 100 bungalows last year, he would have rented each one of them, but this summer, the situation has been much different.

“We saw plenty of rains during the first months of summer. The situation now has been much better but it’s mid-August already and the weather in September seems to be unpredictable. As for Žabljak, if there’s no sun, there’s no a successful summer season,” explained Taušanović.

Director of the Žabljak Tourism Organization, Vanja Krgović Šarović, on the other hand, believes August and the end of summer will hit record levels.

“Visitor numbers in July were at a record low at 9% but having in mind all the bookings made, the season will be successful. Currently, we see a surge in visitor numbers, that is, we have 150 guests more compared to the same period last year. Hotels are fully occupied and international tourist arrivals reached 80%,” Krgović-Šarović has signaled.
