June 26, 2018 - Žlijebi is a completely preserved and typicHerzegovinianian village. This part of historical Herzegovina is known for their houses completely made of stone. Roofs, walls, terraces - everything was made out of the local stone from the local quarries - and everything was done by hand, extraction, carving, and construction works.

Žlijebi is situated on the slopes of the Orjen mountain, 700 meters above the sea level, and has a beautiful view of the Herceg Novi bay. The village developed intensively during the beginning of the 20th century when many of its villagers went to America for work. Many of them returned bringing their earnings and investing in their households.

The village is several centuries old, and St. Nicholas church was built in the 16th century. They also have an active theatrical group and they are well known for organizing summer cultural events. We recommend that you visit Žlijebi, which recently received "All Miracles of Montenegro" Ministry of Tourism Award.
