22 August 2018 - The construction of an adventure park began in Vrbanj, and construction works and placement of contents should be finished by mid-September. After that, the training of instructors and the technical preparation of the park will begin, which should be solemnly opened on the Municipal Day of Herceg Novi, October 28th.

The director of the Agency for construction and development of Herceg Novi, Boro Lučić, said that the rough construction works include the arrangement of parking space for 24 cars, setting up huts for rest, construction of small borders, gazebos as well as arranging the trails.

“Everything is made of natural materials and does not disturb the environment. The equipment that will be installed in the park was imported yesterday and it finally arrived at Vrbanj. On three levels, three polygons with 44 elements are planned, depending on the difficulty of using them, they are sorted into three categories: for children, less skillful and polygonal users for those who want a higher adrenaline challenge,” explained Lučić.

Entrance to the park will be charged, but before that, it is necessary to determine who will and how to manage the park. This will be known after the training of instructors and the completion of technical preparation.

The plan is to train 8 instructors, who will not be hired at once since it is a "seasonal" job. Namely, the park should be operational from March/April to October/November, as long as the weather conditions are favorable. Due to snow during January and February, most of the "elements" in the park will not be able to be used.

In addition, the Agency for the Construction and Development of the City has planned and revitalized “Štefica's” house for tourist purposes, the construction of a slide run and mini lift for children. That is why it should be applied again with IPA funds, from which, according to Lučić, they could get about 300,000 euros again. This project will work in cooperation with current partners from the Adriatic canyoing project.

Lučić expects that in the fall they could again apply for funds together. As he added, "Orjen Adventure Weekend" will be organized in the spring, where project partners will participate, which will present the tourist potential of Orjen and the park.

TMN recalls that this project is financed from EU pre-accession funds and approved at the first call for proposals through the Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro-Croatia 2014-2020 cross-border cooperation program. All procurement within the project is carried out in accordance with clearly defined EU tender procedures.

The project plans to build an adventure park in Vrbanj - on an area of 7,000 m² in the beechwood forest, northwest of the so-called Štefica house, at 1100 m above sea level. Additionally, four polygons are planned:

Children Polygon 1-2 meters high;
Polygon A 2-3 meters high;
Polygon B  4-6 meters high;
Polygon C 6+ meters high.

The polygons will have a total of 44 elements, a zip-line polygon, a school polygon, and a new generation security system. The project also includes training for park instructors, as well as equipment for users and instructors. The contractor is obliged to deliver the park in accordance with the European quality standard EN 15567.
