July 03, 2018 - Minster of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, stayed in Montenegro for the past few days. During his visit to Montenegro, he used the opportunity to discuss various topics with Montenegrin officials.

At the meetings, it was noted that the cooperation between Montenegro and Hungary stands for excellent bilateral relations and that the two friendly countries share views on many issues.

“The fact that you are staying in Montenegro is another strong confirmation of such relations between the two countries, for which we can say that it can not be better. However, we will still continue to work on the further improvement of cooperation with the new content,” noted Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković.

He, on the behalf of the nation, thanked Hungary and Minister Szijjarto for Hungary's strong and loud support towards the Montenegrin European Union integration path. Minister Szijjarto announced that Hungary will continue to do so and provide necessary help as much as it is possible.

“Just as you can in the future, you can count on our help 100%, and support all the time,” said Szijjarto. He added that his country stands behind the mindset that the European Union should open all remaining negotiating chapters this year with both Montenegro and Serbia, while it is understood that the two processes must be treated separately.

The officials also discussed many other topics such as national and regional security, immigration problems and similar, and as a conclusion, the official visit by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was agreed in the following period.
