June 22, 2018 - If there is a bigger inflow of migrants to Montenegro, they should be approached as human beings and not with barbed wire, said the Democratic Party of Montenegro, while the Democratic Front (DF) said they do not see why Montenegro would accept migrants when Serbia and Croatia keep them from their borders.

The alarming migrant situation was confirmed by Prime Minister Duško Markovic, who recently said in Austria that around 1,500 illegal crossings from Albania to Montenegro were registered in the first five months of this year. And foreign media are increasingly writing about a new Balkan migrant route, who according to a Reuters writer, through Albania and Montenegro, they are trying to reach the Western European countries, although the migration inflow to Montenegro is still modest.

In the wake of the migration crisis, in 2015, most immigrants from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan tried to get to Western Europe through Greece, Serbia, Croatia and Hungary, but this route was blocked by barbed wire, a large number of policemen, and even a violent ban for the migrants trying to cross the border. Montenegro recently received the barbed wire as a donation from the government of Hungary, the country that so far most violently faced with the migrants. Nevertheless, Markovic said that it would not be installed at the borders, and announced that one of the former military watchtowers (karaula) at the border with Albania would become a reception center for migrants.

The Democratic Party of Montenegro said that in the relationship’s core, there should be respect towards the rights of migrants, as well as protection of the citizens and prevention of abuse. Our people are not known as ones who turn their heads away from the unfortunate. Helping those who are in trouble is kindness and as Marko Miljanov says: "Charity is our free teacher, who helps us at all times and calls for kindness" the Democrats said.

On the other hand, DF deputy Jovan Vučurović says that "Markovic has bent to the demands that Montenegro will become a refugee camp and will be overwhelmed by thousands of migrants". "What is unacceptable and cannot be allowed simply because Montenegro has no economic or other capacity for such an adventure, which would endanger the security and safety of the citizens," he said.

The most dangerous is that Markovic does not think about the consequences, says Vučurović. "And as such, he once again shows that he is not up to the function he, unfortunately, covers, as it openly pushes the country of 600,000 citizens into chaos and disappearance. Croatia, Hungary, and Bulgaria return the migrants at their borders, and I do not see why they should be accepted by Montenegro, which is already impoverished and affected by a severe internal crisis," said the DF deputy. Democratic Montenegro, however, says that the principles of universality sustain that there are human beings’ rights that have come from human dignity. We need to treat these needy people as an equal part of humanity, not as its subcategory. "One must be aware that unexpected and unpredictable global processes are causing unknowns and in the eyes of many ordinary people appearing as an" outsider's hand "that can endanger domestic affairs and domestic identity," said Aleksa Bečić's party.

Vučurović claims that "the refugee camps will not be made even in Albania and the fake Kosovo state". "But will be by the puppet government, Soroš's puppet Markovic and obedient NGOs. To conclude, DF is strongly opposed to the construction of these camps because it will jeopardize the country's security, and these migrants will be increasingly nervous and more prone to violence," said the DF deputy.

Stanišić: The government is capable of responding to this challenge

The delegate from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the president of the Board Security Committee, Obrad Miso Stanišić, says that the government is ready to face this security challenge. "The government has a prepared strategy and will certainly respond adequately to this security challenge," Stanišić said. "The Security Committee, Stanišić says, has not yet discussed the possible inflow of migrants. "The problem has not escalated and there was no need. But we are certainly ready to respond to this challenge," Stanisic says.

A reasonable policy to persuade citizens that they are protected

The Democrats added that a reasonable policy is now required that will eliminate the concerns of Montenegrin citizens. "Reasonable politics needs to remove doubts, convince domestic citizens that they are protected and that abuse will be prevented, but also to send a message of humanity, tolerance, and goodwill to people in distress," said the Democrats.
