PORTODIMARE Conference in Synergy with Blue Growth and Environmental Quality Meetings in Budva

November 13, 2018 - Organized by the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, a press conference was held on Tuesday at Hotel Center Ville in Podgorica, where the New Year 2019 program in Montenegro was presented.

Representatives of local tourist organizations from Budva, Bar, Herceg Novi, Tivat, Kotor and Podgorica presented multi-day entertainment programs and announced concerts by renowned performers from the region who will be organized at city squares during the New Year's holidays. Traditionally, a rich New Year program has been prepared by numerous hotels throughout Montenegro. Representatives of hotel groups Budva Riviera and Montenegro Stars, the strategic partners of the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, spoke at the press conference on New Year's arrangements and prices. Thanks to spectacular outdoor receptions with attractive performers, and cheerful atmosphere on the streets, hotels, restaurants and other catering establishments, Montenegro has positioned itself as the destination of the best holiday in the region. This year expects a very high quality, diverse and dynamic New Year program, justifying this image and attracting tens of thousands of guests to spend the holidays in Montenegro, according to the National Tourist Organization of Montenegro.

New Year 2019 Program in Kotor

The New Year's Eve in Kotor includes a Kotor evening, when the guests, after the program for the youngest- Children-New Year's Eve, will be entertained by the Kotor performers and their guests. For the New Year's Eve and the first night in 2019, Kotor returns to its true, rock image and within the Rock New Year program, bringing the most significant bands of the ex-yu rock scene of today. On 31 December, Damir Urban, Darko Rundek, Bombaj Press and M.O.R.T. will perform, while the 1st of January starts with the performance of Four Blues Driver, followed by Galija, Psihomodo pop, Autogeni trening.

Within the "From Christmas to Christmas" event, which runs from 23 December to 09 January, Kotor’s citizens and guests will be able to enjoy the Concert of City Music, New Year's Bazaar, Concerts of Classical Music, Concert of Klapa Music, Concerts of Spiritual Music, Humanitarian fun evening, Children New Year.

New Year 2019 Program in Herceg Novi

Citizens of Herceg Novi and the guests of the city under the Orjen Mountain will also be able to welcome this New Year in the open. Organized by the Tourism Organization of Herceg Novi and the Municipality of Herceg Novi, a multi-day music program with a wealth of accompanying content is being prepared, with a magnificent welcome to 2019 on the platform in front of Hotel Igalo. The program will be adapted to different musical tastes, so the New Year's Eve will mark the hits of Riblja Čorba, Jelena Rozga, Sergej Ćetković, and the performances by Ljuba Stanković and other performers.

Herceg Novi enters into 2019 with the most successful hits of the Belgrade group "Riblja čorba" and their frontman Bora Đorđević. They will be playing in Igalo on 31 December from 11 pm and the opening band will be the Bokelian band "Light under the black mountain", from 21h.

The night before, on December 30th, the best atmosphere will be Split's pop singer Jelena Rozga and winner of Pink stars Ljuba Stankovic and during the day, or more precisely from 12h, the "Children's New Year" will be organized with the children's play “The Enchanted Santa Claus".

Monday, 1 January, is reserved for the performance of the biggest domestic music star, Sergej Ćetković, whose performance will begin from 9 pm to introduce the band "Toć".

New Year 2019 Program in Tivat

Željko Joksimović will entertain citizens of Tivat and their guests on New Year's Eve, and Lepa Brena and Bojan Delić will perform on 1 January, while Ana Kokić and the Tivat band "Toć" will perform on 2 January. The New Year’s program on the city promenade Pine will begin on 15 December when Tivat's caterers will set up recognizable gastro cottages, and the music program will begin on 26 December. During the eight holiday days, there will be the concerts of Amadeus band, Ana Rucner, Leontina and guests, Boris Novkovic, La band Tambura night, The gents, Disko inferno, Tribute band ABBA. The rich fun-minded program will continue until January 10, 2019, with a variety of events and resident DJs.

New Year 2019 Program in Bar

The new year's happening in Bar starts on December 30 with the Children's New Year's performance "The Enchanted Santa Claus", and performances by Dino Beharević and D'Bend and Aco Pejović from 9 pm. On 31 December at noon, the New Year's Eve concert will be held by the choir ANTIVARI MUSIC with the soprano Aleksandra Vojvodić -Jovović and under the conductor Miro Kruščić. Before the concert of Sergej Ćetković, the band “Akademia” will perform at 9 pm. The first night in 2019 will be marked by the “Perper” and “Plavi Orkestar” performances. They are also planning to organize a New Year's bazaar with traditional products of the Bar region.

New Year 2019 Program in Budva

The local tourist organization Budva organizes an open-air public New Year's program on the square in front of the Old Town, which will also be the Jubilee - 20 years after the first organized public reception of the New Year in this town. The program will begin on 28 December with Most Wanted, Who See and BG Sindikat concerts from 9 pm.

The day later, Ethno group Zora, Halid Bešlić and Marija Šerifović will go through the program, and the program in front of the walls of the Old Town will begin at 9.30pm. The local DJs will perform first, and Burak Yeter and Darren Emerson will perform at 10 pm.

Citizens and guests of Budva on the craziest night will be entertained by Jack Lupino and Leftovers and “Aerodrom”, followed by the appearance of the regional star Dino Merlin. According to a long tradition, the Concert of Classical Music (Audience Orchestra + Sara Vujošević, Emilija Minić, Marijana Šovran, Lana Asija Dabović) will be organized on the 1 January. “Akademia”, “Partibrejkersi” and “Van Gogh” perform at the evening program.

The Budva Tourist Organization plans, in cooperation with the Budva Host Association, to realize the idea of a "Christmas Bazaar" this year as well, located in the city park. It will be available to citizens and visitors from 15 December to 15 January.

November 13, 2018 - Don’t touch art. Use it, is the name of the exhibition, which, under the sponsorship by the company Cerovo, opened on Thursday at the ULUCG Art Pavilion.

The exhibition was opened by the architect Tamara Bačlija, representing the company Cerovo, and pointed out that there is not much talk about industrial design in our country, which is certainly one of the branches that we can give a contribution to as artists and a nation.

The exhibition draws attention to the object, its shape, its eccentricity, and its beauty.

"Also, with this exhibition we are trying to put the industrial design in Montenegro in the focus of interest, to encourage all of you to realize your ideas. The company Cerovo wants to be the ambassador of a good, but also domestic design, and is ready to support every valuable initiative," Bačlija added.

The visitors had the opportunity to see the exhibits provided by the company Cerovo, photographs by Djordje Zivaljevic, as well as a short documentary movie.

The exhibition will last another five days, and everybody can visit it at the ULUCG Art Pavilion from 9am to 2pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm.

November 13, 2018 - The quality of electricity supply can be better, Economy Minister Dragica Sekulic said yesterday, adding that the 50 million euros, which the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) has chosen to invest in the network, will reduce the number and duration of the electricity outages.

According to Pobjeda, Executive Director of CEDIS, Zoran Djukanovic, said that the company is aware of the fact that, especially in rural areas, the quality of the power supply is not at a satisfactory level.

"I am not satisfied neither as a citizen nor as a minister responsible for the quality of electricity supply, because I would not be in CEDIS today and we would not talk for some time about how to give the best effects with limited resources," Sekulic said at the press conference after a meeting with the management of CEDIS.

She stated that the distribution network was designed for a smaller number of users and added that it would have to adapt to the requirements.

"The more we are distant from Podgorica and certain tourist centers, the quality of supply is weaker," Sekulic said and added that there were no investments in the network for a long time.

She recalled that the ministry and CEDIS have been preparing a revitalization program and that CEDIS has committed 50 million euros for the next three years.

"With those 50 million CEDIS intends to improve the quality of the power supply for the citizens. In the next three years, we intend to fix a certain number of transmission lines, airlines, and reduce the number and duration of electricity outages," Sekulic said and explained that it is not a classic replacement of pillars and wires, but that this project will be measured by indicators that speak about the quality of power supply.

She pointed out that every euro invested in the network must be justified by the number of interruptions, the duration and the quality of the voltage level used by the citizens. She pointed out that a significant topic is a connection to the network. 

"The intention of the ministry is that in the upcoming period, and we will try by the end of the year, to initiate a change in a number of regulations in order to simplify the process of connecting consumers to the network," Sekulic said. Djukanovic said that CEDIS is aware of the fact that, especially in rural areas, the quality of power supply for the citizens is not at a satisfactory level.

"Through communication with the Government and the Ministry, this project was designed in order to invest about EUR 50 million in a relatively short period in order to reduce the duration and number of electricity outages, as well as to improve the voltage conditions for the citizens in the suburbs," explained Djukanovic and stressed that the network was neglected in favor of the tourist region, so the quality of this service is too low. 

"Network connections are one of the most complex processes in CEDIS. We have made some conclusions and I hope that we will come up with new solutions that will shorten the time of connection to the new users," added Djukanovic.

November 13, 2018 - The Ministry of Health of Montenegro will support the best students of medicine and young doctors and enable them to improve in the most rewarding institutions in order to apply their expertise in their country and to ensure the continuity of a stable and sustainable health care system, said Minister of Health Kenan Hrapović.

He and his associates and coordinator at the Faculty of Medicine doc. dr. Zorica Potpara spoke with medical students and young doctors, who during the study had the highest average grades and achieved the best results.

"Our goal is to keep the best in the health care system of Montenegro and enable you to get the most current and best medical knowledge from the most heterogeneous institutions in Europe, and the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Health have the will and they can provide that," said Hrapović, emphasizing that the meeting marks a new era in the creation of staff policy when it comes to medicine.

According to him, the Government of Montenegro, each year, allocates 700,000 euros for continuing medical education through the budget of the Ministry of Health.

Speaking about the capacities and excellence of Montenegrin doctors, as well as the Government's investments in human resources, Hrapović reminded that recently, Dr. Nemanja Radojević, through the program of continuing medical education, at the invitation of Hardwood University, among seven thousand applicants from all over the world won the placement among the top five and there he continued his professional development.

General Director of the Directorate for Quality Control and Human Resources in Health, prof. Dr. Vesna Miranović said that the task of the health authorities to recognize the true talents and future leaders in this area who will be able to assume responsibility in the future, know, have a vision, fight for goals and not to give up on this path.

You are a model of young generations, and this is very important for us because you will be able to take over the burden of the Montenegrin health system in the future," Miranovic emphasized. Dr. Branko Lutovac, who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica, completed specialist medical studies in immunology in Belgrade, completed a pediatrician specialization a month ago and is currently on doctoral academic studies, he decided, as announced from the Ministry of Health, to return to make a personal contribution to the improvement of the health system.

"It's exactly this way that the Ministry of Health recognizes young potential and takes care of young people, represents the phenomenal synergy where together we can contribute to the improvement of the health system. In spite of the fact that our system is often a target of negative criticism, when you go somewhere in the region, you actually notice the benefits of our system, and learn to appreciate what you have," said Dr. Lutovac.

The best student of his generation, a specialist in internal medicine at KCCG, Dr. Vasilije Boskovic, thanked the Ministry of Health for recognizing their efforts, work and results, as well as giving them support on the path towards a common goal, as he said, to be a service to our people, first of all as good people, and then as exceptional professionals.

"Their support represents a guarantee and a tailwind so we continue to try harder, to work and to gain new knowledge and experiences. And all that has been done so far, the Ministry of Health deserves respect, which is a guarantee of the Government's commitment to improve the health of its people. I never had a dilemma of whether I would work somewhere abroad. From the very beginning and before I enrolled in medicine, I knew it and it was always my goal to contribute to my people and my country, so it will be in the future," said Dr .Bošković.

12 November 2018 - Representatives of the Government of Montenegro, led by Prime Minister Duško Marković recently met with the delegation of the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, led by Mayor Aleksandar Kašćelan. 

It was stated that the good strategic position of Cetinje valued through the strengthening of the overall infrastructure and creation of new jobs will provide a better life for the citizens of the Old Royal Capital. 

Congratulating on 13 November - Day of the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, the Prime Minister emphasised the undisputed support of the Government for the development of the municipality, but also pointed to the need to strengthen fiscal discipline at the local level. Both sides agreed that additional efforts should be made to consolidate local finances and to collect taxes and reduce the gray economy, especially in the field of tourism. The number of unemployed citizens of Cetinje has been reduced by almost 400 in 2018. 

The meeting also discussed the implementation of capital projects. The 2018 Capital Budget foresaw the amount of 5,541,000 EUR for a total of 32 projects in Cetinje. 

Speaking about the budget for the next year, PM Marković pointed out that it will be focused on development by limiting spending to what is really necessary. 

Kašćelan and his associates expressed satisfaction with the support they receive through the Law on the Old Royal Capital, which enabled them to invest in the equipment of local companies and thus achieve savings. Additional support, as Prime Minister Marković said, can also be expected through the new Law on Financing of Local Self-Government which is being drafted. 

PM Marković concluded that the support and partnership between the Government and the Old Royal Capital remain unquestionable, but that the goal is to turn the possibilities into reality. 

12 November 2018 - Montenegro, 140 years after the Berlin Congress and a turning point in its history, is on a safe path to becoming the next full member of the European Union and taking its place among the developed countries. This was underlined at today's ceremony marking the 140th anniversary of the Berlin Congress.

The celebration of the 140th anniversary of the recognition of Montenegro's independence at the Berlin Congress was sponsored by the Office for European Integration and the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro. 

Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljević reminded of the most important attainment of the Berlin Congress - an international recognition of the statehood of Montenegro, which was won after a long-standing struggle in this region, pointing out that this event represented a new page of Montenegro's history, which laid the foundations for the creation of a modern European state.

12 November 2018 - On the occasion of the Jubilee 70 years since the founding of the Athletic Federation of Montenegro and 135 years of athletics in Montenegro, the Municipality of Pljevlja has won a Golden Plaque for the development of athletic sport in both Pljevlja and Montenegro. The Golden Plaque, as the highest recognition of the Athletic Federation of Montenegro, is awarded to individuals or organizations for many years of work and special results in the improvement of athletic sport as well as an exceptional contribution to increasing the reputation of Montenegro and Montenegrin athletics in the country and abroad.

The award ceremony will be held on November 17, 2018 (Saturday) at 12:00 PM in the Millennium hall at the Ramada Hotel in Podgorica.

The ceremony will be attended by President of the European Athletic Federation Svein Arne Hansen, Vice President of the European Athletic Federation and President of the Balkan Athletic Federation Dobromir Karamarinov, Presidents of Athletic Federations of countries from the region: Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo, Minister of Sport of Montenegro Nikola Janović, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, as well as numerous prominent athletic officials.

In addition to the municipality of Pljevlja, the Golden Plaque will be given to the Athletic Club "Rudar" and its coaches Budimir Jestrović and Slaviša Vraneš.

12 November 2018 - The exhibition "Vincenzo Maria Coronelli and Perast", which will be held on Wednesday, November 14 in the Museum of Perast, will mark the beginning of the programme for the 21^st of November – Kotor Municipality Day.

The exhibition is being organised on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the death of Coronelli, the most famous Italian cartographer from the 17th century Venetian Republic and the founder of the oldest geographical association in the world (Accademia Cosmografica degli Argonauti).

The author of the exhibition is conservator and restorer Maja Uskoković.

The opening of the exhibition is on November 21 at 7 PM and it will mark the start of the Kotor Municipality Day celebration.

Coronelli is known as a theologian, geographer, cosmographer and publisher, known in particular for his atlases and globes. As a cartographer, he is known in Montenegro through isolarios: ”Mari, Golfi, Isole, Spiagge, Porti, Citta, Fortezze ed altri Loughi dell’Istria, Quarner, Dalmazia, Albania, Epiroe Livadia” and atlas "Atlante Veneto" kept in the Museum of Perast.

In order to preserve and protect the cultural heritage, the exhibition will present the stages of the implementation of conservation and restoration works on the isolario, and visitors will be able to get acquainted with its appearance before and after the conservation work.

Coronelli's works are the basis for all subsequent cartographers and travel writers who explored this part of Europe.
