14 September 2018 - On September 14, the Public Institution City Library and Reading Room Herceg Novi hosted a promotion of the novel “Godine vrana” (English: The Years of the Crows) by Siniša Kovačević.

The story of the novel follows the time of World War I and the first years of freedom, the time of unexpected love affairs, officer's duels, quiet funerals, runaways, etc. It tells a tale about the time of a swift court and gallows. The tale in which even the crows invade the city and transform the sky into a black cloud.

During the novel promotion, Professor Gojko Tesić spoke about the debut of Siniša Kovačević, and then the author himself addressed the audience. The guests had the opportunity to hear excerpts from the novel read by actor Dejan Đonović.

Siniša Kovačević is a Serbian dramatist and professor at the Belgrade Academy of Arts. Born in Srem, Serbia, he finished dramaturgy at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. He writes scripts for plays for the theatre, as well as screenplays. His numerous works have been translated into Macedonian, Russian, English and German.

Kovačević published his first novel this year, but he is also the author of more than ten theatre plays and several screenplays. Kovačević is triple Sterija Award winner for theatrical plays (Novo je doba, Đeneral Milan Nedić, Janez), triple "Branislav Nušić" Award winner for theatrical plays (Sveti Sava, Kraljević Marko, Ravi), his TV drama Novo je doba was included in the top ten TV dramas and his TV drama Svečana obaveza was included in the five best TV dramas ever recorded.

Kovačević’s first novel “The Years of the Crows”, which he published mid-2018, is, according to numerous literary critics, the most authentic-seen fate of Belgrade one century ago.
