10 August 2018 - Herceg Novi Comic Festival will be held from September 7 to 12, and last night at the cocktail party at the City Cafe, it was officially declared that the first ambassador of this event will be one of the world's best-known comic book authors, a brilliant Irish artist, the co-creator of the world's most popular TV show, Game of Thrones, William Simpson.

Due to his huge contribution to popularising the manifestation in the world and the unselfish contribution to the progress of the festival, the Assembly of the Association of Comic Lovers "Herceg Novi Comic Festival” made the decision to introduce this title and offer William to be the first title carrier.

“We are extremely pleased and proud to say that the famous artist immediately and enthusiastically accepted to be our world ambassador, mentioning that we will spoil him with the amount of honour we have shown. Due to the work of the ninth season of the "Game of Thrones" series, Simpson was not able to attend the proclamation, and will receive an ambassadorial charter at the opening of this year's twelfth edition of the Herceg Novi Comic Festival on September 7-12”.

Simpson is joining the list of special, previously announced guests, and the arrival was also confirmed by Fernando Dagnino, Juanan Ramirez, Giada Perissinotto, Chris Thompson, Walter Venturi, Joevito Nuccio, Dan Verlinden, Mirko Čolak, Davide de Cubelis, Alessandro Patrovicchio, Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, Jovan Ukropina, Robert Solanović (all biographies available on the website http://stripfestival.me/). Along with 14 special guests, this year's Herceg Novi Comic Festival will also host Milorad Vicanović Maza, Fran Strukan, Valentina Briški, Vladimir Laci Krstić, Iztok Sitar, Tihomir Tico Tikulin, Filip Andronik, Enis Čišić, Aleksa Gajić, Stevan Subić, Luka Cakić, Vladimir Vešović, Bora Grbić, Dragana Kuprešanin, Milica Mastelica, Rajko Čučak, and Stefan Katanić.

The opening of the festival is on September 7th in the Belavista Square in the Old town, followed by a tour of the exhibitions at the galleries Sue Ryder and Josip Bepo Benković, all prior to the spectacular opening of the festival at Forte Mare fortress with the concert of the famous Montenegrin hip-hop band Who See.

“During the six days of the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to observe the live drawing of the world masters of comics, to receive their own copy of the drawings with written dedication, but also to attend comic workshops, stock market of comics, drawing schools, promotions of the latest editions, lectures and presentations of the hosted festival guests. Cooperation with primary schools will be continued, as a tradition started at the previous edition of the festival, within which the artist-pedagogues will hold drawing lessons. The works that will be created during those lessons will then be exhibited in the garden of the City Museum Mirko Komnenović. The rich festival program also includes now famous festival parties, a cruise tour and a visit to Luštica. The festival will end on 12 September with the concert of one of the most popular regional bands, the Belgrade noise-pop band Artan Lili, who will perform at the Peoples Beach Bar. All Herceg Novi Comic Festival programs are free for visitors, as well as entries to the concerts of Who See and Artan Lili,” said the festival organizers.
