July 07, 2018 - Traditionally, the Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children takes place in the first twelve days of July in Kotor, in one of the most beautiful bays in the world. The starting ceremony of the festival includes the Mayor of Kotor giving the keys of the Old Town to children and thus symbolically giving them the management of the city.

According to organizers, the main mission of the Festival is the affirmation and development of theatre art for children and youth, featuring the best puppetry, drama and multimedia productions performed by professional theatres, troupes and individuals from Europe and all around the world. The Festival presents youth cultural creativity and provides encouragement for all children to explore their creative potential. By organizing the Festival, Kotor is promoted and branded as a child and youth festival town.

The 26th Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children will feature a very rich and high-quality Main theatre program which will be presented in Kotor, from July 1 – 12, 2018. The organizers have prepared a handful of programs, workshops and surprises within the side program activities during the days of the Festival. The event takes place during the summer tourist season at over 30 locations in the municipality of Kotor, and organizers have prepared the Map of the Festival.

On Saturday, July 7th, the program will continue at 7 PM, when all visitors will be able to enjoy the performance “How was the rainbow created” by the Mystic Dance club in the Square of Arms. Later, at 8.30 PM the Square of Arms will shine from the “Ballet dance summer” by Infinity Dance studio Kotor. Also at 8.30 PM, visitors will be able to witness the promotion of the book “Zovu me Čupa” by Nataša Nelević at the Cinema Square. On the same eve, at 9 PM there is a concert performed by workshops participants called “Perast's Fraterhoods” at Perast City Museum. You can also hear “The Summer Story” from Art Group Montenegro at 9.30 PM at the Square of Arms. At the Summer Stage, guests can enjoy “The Snow Queen” at 9.30 PM.

On Sunday, July 8th, “Kashtanka” from Zadar Puppet Theater will echo through the Culture Centre at 8 PM, while at the same time “Radost and Guests” will be shown at the Square of Arms. Workshop for parents in cooperation with thd Centre for mutual education SeeMe called “How to potentiate the development of self-esteem in children?” will start at 8.30 PM at the Cinema Square. Perast City Museum will host a concert performed by workshops participants “On the Beautiful, Blue Adriatic”, while ballet lovers can enjoy “The Little Mermaid” performed by the Allegro Ballet troupe at 9.30 PM on the Square of Arms. At the same time, “The Legend About Courage” will be told on the Summer Stage.
