June 25, 2018 - Hikers from Herceg Novi are aware that they should invest in maintaining rural landscape and architecture to keep their routes more attractive. They were invited by their Dubrovnik colleagues to participate in maintaining the supporting walls "suhomeđa" and learn the ancient building techniques.

This weekend in Konavle, within the framework of the "Moba 2018" manifestation, hosts organized successful workshops in Gruda and Ćilipi, where participants built traditional supporting walls in stone, without connective material, the so-called "suhomeđa", traditional Dalmatian type of construction.

Mountaineering club "Subra" also participated in the event, since they are also engaged in the maintenance of this important segment of the agricultural landscape of Orjen between their basic activities.

Suhomeđa is common in the Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean regions, and it is increasingly attractive as part of the tourist offer. The buildings built in this traditional way best reflect the Adriatic coastline and are one of its inseparable symbols.
