Exhibition "From Krk to Kotor: Ivan Volarić - Piturić" Within Program of European Year of Cultural Heritage

October 19, 2018 - Within the cooperation of the Cultural Centre of the city of Krk (Croatia) and the Maritime Museum of Montenegro Kotor, and on the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, the citizens of Kotor and their guests will be presented with the exhibition of artistic works of Ivan Volarić Piturić, which connects two cities and their famous maritime and cultural history.

The exhibition of the Cultural Centre of the City of Krk "From Krk to Kotor: Ivan Volarić - Piturić" will be opened by Consul of the Republic of Croatia Marijan Klasić at the Gallery of Solidarity in the Old Town of Kotor this evening at 8pm.

Montenegrin Maritime Museum Director Andro Radulovic and Director of the Cultural Centre of the City of Krk, Maja Parentić, will address the audience.

In this way, the cooperation of the Cultural Centre of the City of Krk and the Montenegrin Maritime Museum of Kotor continues, and through the international cultural cooperation of Croatia and Montenegro which started in 2011.

The exhibition takes place on the occasion of marking the Battle of Lepanto anniversary (1571) because this historic event connects two towns - Krk and Kotor. The Battle of Lepanto also included galas from two towns - St. Triphon from Kotor and "Cristo Ressussitato" from Krk.

The exhibition will present the opus of painter and decorator Ivan Volarić from his native Vrbnik on Krk to Boka Bay, where he also left his rich pictorial legacy, depicting portraits of distinguished commissioners and sacral works, icons, decorative medallions and iconostasis for the Bokelian churches - recalled the Maritime Museum of Montenegro Kotor.

The exhibition is part of the program of European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
