October 6, 2018 - The "Open Days of Science" Festival, under the motto "From Curiosity to Innovation", whereby the Montenegrin Ministry of Education draws public attention to current scientific topics and policies, as well as the importance of innovation for social and economic development, will be realized from 9 to 12 October, in several cities across Montenegro - the Ministry said.

The Central Exhibition of the Joint Research Center of the European Commission entitled "What Makes a Righteous Society", the “Open Days of Science” program aims to show the general public the importance of responsible science and open dialogue between decision-makers, scientists, artists and citizens to address social challenges we face on a daily basis. The leading institutions of the European Commission for Scientific Counseling in Policy Making, through the exhibition, ask the question of how the world can be more equitable.

A representative of the European Commission's Joint Research Center, Angela Cardinali, said at yesterday's press conference that artists and scientists need to work together on projects and answer the questions we are asking, and that is exactly the theme of the exhibition - fairness.

"Within the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, we have joined scientists and artists together. And they have, on that occasion, developed 15 projects. The result of these projects is this exhibition on the subject of fairness, which was first presented in Milan in 2017." Cardinali explained that organizers have selected three of those projects for the exhibition in Montenegro.

A unique multimedia exhibition entitled "Archeology of Memory and Knowledge Architecture" will be presented at the Festival. This exhibition opens the story of "the codified universe and its decoding through the encounter of ancient civilizations on their path to modern man". The author of the exhibition "Archeology of Memory and Knowledge Architecture," Prof. Dr. Gordana Medin, said that he wanted an interactive and interesting way to show how people carry the collective consciousness of our ancestors. "This consciousness is layered in us, and we are superficially upgraded and delivered to those who come after us. As we get older, we are looking to get back to the beginnings that are in us, which as a whole remain unbuilt, because we are upgrading with other things that leave us away from us," said Professor Medin. The idea is to make a historical retrospective and awake curiosity in children.

At this year's “Open Days of Science”, M:tel Digital Factory will, in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, organize the first Hackathon on mobile payment. M:tel Digital Factory’s PR, Bojana Maraš, said that competitors would have the opportunity to demonstrate how innovative they are and that they are expected to receive valuable awards. "The goal of this chaplet is to simplify a solution. In this case, we want to get closer and explain to Montenegrin citizens how it works and why it is a useful mobile payment. For the creators of the best ideas will be a valuable prize," Maraš announced.

In Montenegro, as announced in the conference, the process of developing a Smart Specialization Strategy began in the past year, which should offer orientations for knowledge-based development, technologies and innovations. Citizens, experts, and professionals can participate in this process through the online platform of the “Fair of Perpetual Ideas”, which is accessed via www.daninauke.me. General Director of Directorate of Innovation and Technology Development at the Ministry of Science, Mr. Branka Žižić, said that priority areas were identified in this process, namely renewable energy sources, sustainable and health tourism, sustainable agriculture and the value chain of food, new materials and information-communication technologies. "In the next phase of this process, we will need to identify, together with the help of creative people, and develop concrete investment projects. Such projects could be funded from national funds as well as from European funds. But we also expect some significant foreign investments and private sector investments," Žižić said.

From October 9th to 12th, a rich program is planned, including the opening of the first Mediterranean Garden, the presentation of the "My Wood" application at Art @ CMS, the traditional IT event of Knowledge Factory, Natural History Museum Exhibition, Science Shop, Astronomical evening and other quality content ", they said from the Montenegrin Ministry of Science.
