25 September 2018 - Within the manifestation "European Heritage Days" organized by the Ministry of Culture in the Public Institution "Museums and Galleries of Podgorica", an exhibition "From the Treasury of Skadar Lake" was opened to mark the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of National Park Skadar Lake.
The exhibition was opened by Nela Savković Vukčević, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City, who emphasized that the manifestation "European Heritage Days" aims to strengthen awareness of the European cultural identity through a more intense exchange of knowledge about the common heritage which includes the specialties of numerous different cultures.
Participants of this ceremony were greeted by Director of the National Parks of Montenegro, Elvir Klica, and pointed out that the Ministry of Culture recognized the importance of the exhibition by including it in the program of the manifestation "European Heritage Days", which is aimed at stimulating research, promoting and protecting the unique cultural values of Montenegro. He also reminded that due to its natural values of historical and cultural significance, by the Decree of the Parliament of Montenegro, November 27, 1983, the Montenegrin part of the Skadar Lake was proclaimed as a National Park.
In addition to the diversity of natural potentials, the cultural and historical past of NP Skadar Lake has a special significance, because, above all, precisely in this area, Montenegro's historical and state identity was created, concluded Klica.
The exhibition, as stated in the statement, is the result of hard work and dedication of the art historian Radmila Adžic, a professional contributor to the cultural and historical heritage of PE National Parks of Montenegro. The author thanked the sponsors of the exhibition: the Ministry of Culture, Podgorica Municipality and the Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro, as well as the Public Institution "Museums and Galleries of Podgorica" for support in the realization of this significant project.
The exhibition "From the Treasury of Skadar Lake" will be open for visitors until October 14, 2018.
