26th Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children: Travel "Around the World" Begins Tonight!

July 1, 2018 - The town of Kotor's keys will be handed over to the children this evening at 21:00 to start their governance of the town on its adventure "Around the World" - the 26th Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children. With more than 75 programs and participants from 28 countries, this year's festival confirms that Kotor hosts the most important children's theatre festival in this part of Europe.

The 26th Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children is the second part of this year's edition of the KotorArt International Festival and remains on the stage immediately after the 17th Festival Klapa Perast. At the Summer Stage in Kotor, tonight at 9 pm, the festival will be officially inaugurated by the President of the Kotor Municipality, Vladimir Jokić, who will traditionally hand over the keys of the Old Town to the children, commencing the 12-day travel "Around the World”, the slogan of this year's edition of the festival. Kotor brings participants from as many as 28 countries, which will run more than 75 programs. In the name of children, the keys of the city will be taken over by the Little Admiral of the Boka Navy, Luka Kovacevic to begin the summer Kotor adventure, supported by more than 120 volunteers.

He announced before the festival: "Besides 18 theater performances, children and parents will enjoy literary, musical, visual, educational-theoretical and children's play creation programs”.

Tonight's program will continue at 21.30 with the play CINDERELLA of Boško Buha Theater from Belgrade, which is the first of a total of 12 plays to be performed within the competition program. This year's selection also includes:

Theater programs will take place at several locations - the Summer Stage, the Cultural Center, and the Cinema Square, but the children's festival is not just a theatre for children.

Apart from the introduction to the official Youth Theatre Program "The Scene for Youth", the festival also its music segment - 9th Strings Festival. Art Director, Marina Dulović says: “The Festival has clear and visible goals. And that is to support young musicians on the road to their progress and affirmation through music workshops, concerts, lectures and socializing. Along with the music and this Festival, they carry the same thought, the power of will, optimism, courage, and perseverance.
