June 12, 2018 – The summer is in full swing bringing 30-degree weather to our shores and irresistible tastes to our markets. Let’s fill our basket!

What’s in season

Red is still in trend this June: a mixture of sweet smells of raspberries, cherries, and strawberries are filling the market stalls - and the sweet cherries are delicious. The price for cherries and strawberries is still between 3 and 4 euro, though raspberries have gone a bit down in price (about 2 euro per 250gr).

New arrivals from nearby Serbia – Forelle pears – are an old European sort first arriving at the market. Due to their small size, they are great for a kid's snack.

Buy local

An entire range of vegetables are coming from our local fields: green and yellow beans, young potatoes and carrots, onion and garlic as well as zucchini and eggplant.

Jewels of the Northern forests - wild strawberries – appeared at our coastal markets. The catch of the day! If you’re not planning a trip to Durmitor or Kolasin during your vacation, at least try this beautiful berries. They are sold in jars to preserve them better and are about 500gr each for 6 euro.

Another wild forest find – chantarelles. A lovely addition to your menu. Whether sauteed with butter or added to risotto, they are great and 100% organic.
