The airports of Montenegro are facing some of the most challenging months ahead, as data indicates all records will be broken in terms of passenger and aircraft traffic

Just through Tivat airport Montenegro will be connected to 44 destinations this season, and 36 through Podgorica, said the executive director of Montenegro Airports Danilo Orlandić in an interview for Vikend Novine.

“Although 2017 elevated the standards, in both the previous and the current year records are being surpassed. Up to a few days ago, both Montenegro airports served over 270,000 passengers, almost 45,000 more than in the same period of last year. We have the most challenging months ahead of us, as data indicates all records will be broken in terms of passenger and aircraft traffic. I say challenging mainly because of our capacity, but I believe we will together, from the first to the last worker, successfully meet challenges,” said Orlandić.

“What really makes me happy is that we have largely opened the Western Europe and Scandinavia markets. For example, flights from four French towns will land only at Tivat airport, connection to Germany is also improved, with flights to six towns in that country. The Polish market is also much more approachable. Our cooperation with TUI is especially important whose reputation on the global market needs not be mentioned. During the summer months they are expected to bring in 50,000 tourists just to Podgorica. Judging by the flight plans and number of flights, during summer most traffic will be from the Russian market again, but we can also say this year there will be a direct connection to six Ukrainian towns,” said Orlandić.

This year will also be specific in the fact that during the summer season the Podgorica airport will have one day a week with more flights than Tivat airport, over 45 flights. Speaking in total, 2018 estimates state 2,450,000 passengers will be served at both airports, over 250,000 more than last year.
