July 18, 2018 - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is ready to continue supporting Montenegro in further improvement of the fiscal and financial stability, stated the Central Bank (CBCG).

CBCG Governor, Radoje Žugić, held a meeting with the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the IMF, Ričard Dornboš. "The meeting was about the current economic situation in Montenegro, with a special focus on the banking sector," the CBCG said.

Žugić met Dornboša with the achieved indicators of the banking business, which, during this year, continued their positive tendencies from the previous one.

"Beside the growth of credit activity and deposits, liquidity and solvency levels have been maintained above the legal minimum, while the level of non-favorable credit and interest rates continues to decline, especially in loans toward the real sector," added CBCG.

Žugić also introduced intensive regulatory activities of the CBCG, aimed at harmonizing with directives from the European Union, introducing the best practices and strengthening supervisory functions.
