July 17, 2018 - The Montenegrin electro-distribution system CEDIS has until now implemented projects worth EUR 3.3 million on Lustica, and the investment plan for the next year implies the reconstruction of the "Kumbor" transformer station, which will make the investments in the distribution network and facilities on that peninsula reach five million, said the company.

The workers of CEDIS had previously reconstructed the substation "Pržno", and recently the "Klinci" transformer, which was commissioned fifteen days ago. Cedis invested around 2.3 million euros in the construction of the facility that is of crucial importance for the tourist valorization of Lustica, the power cable, and the neutral point grounding. The connection to the substation network is in the final phase, and during the test work, there has been an improvement in the quality of electricity supply for about 900 users from the Lustica area.

"The sub-station" Klinci "is a facility of crucial importance for the tourist development of Lustica. Its construction has provided a much more reliable and quieter operation of 35 kV network and therefore better quality of our users in the entire area of the Herceg Novi Municipality. The number of interruptions in power supply and network damage will be significantly reduced," said Milorad Samardzic, project manager in Region 5. He adds that the qualitative leap that has been achieved by building this facility best illustrates its previous state.

"Lustica was supplied from the substation "Pržno", over a 30-kilometer-long 10 kV network built by JNA for its own needs five decades ago. Such a spread network, with very difficult access on certain sections, was very hard to maintain, especially if the intensity and frequency of atmospheric discharge in the peninsula area were taken into account," Samardzic pointed out.

"Klinci" is a transformer installed with a power of 2 × 8 MVA, with a metal shielded and gas-insulated facility. The substation is also equipped with a local sCadA unit, which enables local management, while a remote control from the dispatcher center is also possible. The contractor at the substation was Eurozox company, while the 35 kV cable was built by the company Electroteam from Budva.

According to Samardzic, on July 8th, all five power lines were operational, which marked the completion of all power cuts in Herceg Novi Municipality, which were happening earlier.
