September 2, 2018 - The number of tourists who want to spend their vacation outside the city is growing and rural properties located near the coast are gaining popularity due to the potential for developing ecotourism that is the fastest growing segment in the tourism industry.

"We can definitely confirm the fact that in the past few years, foreign tourists have been seeking out some of these varieties, such as houses in isolation where they are able to get maximum rest and feel the nature. It is important for them that there is no crowd, that there is a lot of free space, parking, especially if they come with their families," explains President of the Montenegrin Tourist Association Petar Ivković.

According to him, in recent years, rural tourism is gaining popularity in Montenegro, and tourists are increasingly looking for vacations for old houses near the sea, which have preserved an authentic style.

"Most of these houses are located in Tivat towards Radovići, then in the area between Bar and Ulcinj on the coast, in the north, in Žabljak, Kolašin and so on. These are the places where you have a lot of facilities that can be offered at reasonable prices and where people can fully experience Montenegro," Ivković said.

As he added, tourists are also interested in Bay of Kotor, because 90% of the houses have access to the sea, so the guest can practically get out of the bed and get in the water. An interesting area is also found in Utjeha, or the Bay of the Olives, as it is called, which is halfway between Bar and Ulcinj, where numerous houses on the coast can be found.

On the other hand, there are also tourists who want to spend their vacation exclusively in the countryside, far from the city.

"They want something farther from the sea, with a nice view, perhaps a stream, that they have the possibility not to hear anything but the sounds of nature so that they all choose the ways for relaxation," Ivković concluded.
