The European Championship is scheduled from July 14 to 28, 2018.

The Montenegrin water polo players received their rivals for the European Championship held from July 14 to July 28 in Barcelona.

Today's draw placed the “Sharks” in Group B against Spain, Malta and France, which is also the first rival of Vladimir Gojković in the tournament.

"We were the leaders, and from the second pot we drew Spain, who hosts the championship, and from the third, we have the strongest selection - France. Malta is not at the level of our other rivals, so we have one easy match in the group. Surely the match against France is going to be demanding, then the derby with Spain. It is important with which group we cross, for which we are preparing, " Gojković said.

In Barcelona, Montenegro will defend the silver medal won at the European Championships in Belgrade two years ago.

All groups:

Group A: Germany, Georgia, Italy, Hungary;

Group B: MONTENEGRO, Malta, France, Spain;

Group C: Croatia, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece;

Group D: Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania.

The top four teams go directly to the quarterfinals, and the second and third-placed teams will play one more match for placement among the top eight on the Old Continent.

If Montenegro is the first in the group, we will play in the quarter-finals with the winner of the match between the third-placed team of Group A and second-placed from Group C.

If Montenegrin water polo players do not finish as first in the group (and win the second or third place) then in the eighth-finals, their rival would be a second-placed or third-placed team from Group D.
