Bogdan Tanjević Wins the State Sports Award FIBA

Former Montenegrin basketball national team coach Bogdan Tanjević is the winner of the State Prize award, a prestigious award given by Bosnia and Herzegovina for his outstanding work in the field of sports.

Tanjević was born in Pljevlja in 1947, and started his very successful coaching career at Bosna club from Sarajevo in 1971. He later became the champion of Europe with same club.

He trained Budućnost and he also worked with Kazerta, Trieste, Olympia Milan, Limoges, Asvel, Virtus from Bologna and Fenerbahce, with whom he won the championships of Yugoslavia, Italy, France and Turkey.

Bosha led the Yugoslav national team to the silver medal at the 1981 European Championship, with Italy he won the Continental gold in 1999, and with Turkey the silver medal at the 2010 World Cup.

His most recent job as a coach was on the bench of our national team, though he retired after Montenegro was eliminated in the eighth-finals of the EP by a heavy defeat from Latvia.
