At Thursday's session, the Government of Montenegro issued a decision to approach the adoption of the State Study of the site "Part of sector 66 - Modules IV and V” in Ulcinj - Velika Plaža.

"The chosen model of the spatial organization of the study is entirely based on the guidelines developed by the Spatial Plan of Special Purpose for the Coastal Area and the General Concept of the Great Beach. By adopting this planning document, the preconditions for the organization, arrangement, and use of the Great Beach have been created, in accordance with the requirements of nature protection and tourist development on the principles of sustainable development. In the area of the project, areas for tourism, sports and recreation, service, public facilities and urban greenery are envisaged, enabling high-quality space valuation and long-term quality for this part of the coast," the Government said.

As they add, special attention is devoted to the development of an infrastructure that enables full implementation of ecological and energy sustainability standards and a high degree of autonomy.

"The discussion emphasized the importance of the conceptual commitment to integrating a maximum of 5,500 hotel beds in the modernization of the two modules, in modern facilities that are integrated into the environment, along with the associated tourist equipment. Also, it has been stipulated that 100 m² of a green area should be planned on each side within a tourist resort or hotel complex, thus achieving a high-quality tourist offer as well as high ecological responsibility for the construction of the Velika plaža".

According to the Government, “The study, among other things, foresees that all realization measures will be followed by effective controls to protect the landscape, nature and regional identity.”
