September 7, 2018 - The Montenegrin cultural network has sent an initiative to Montenegro's President Milo Djukanovic that the state helps financially in the adaption of the premises for the needs of the Montenegrin cultural center, which was started by the Association of Montenegrins in Novi Sad.

This Association, as recalled by the CKM, took over the long-term lease of the premises for the needs of the Montenegrin cultural center, which needs to be adapted to the purpose."Building this center would contribute to the preservation of Montenegrin cultural identity, and the Montenegrin community would have premises to be pride of in the capital of Serbian culture Novi Sad. The Montenegrin community in Serbia does not have a serious space where cultural events could be held, where even hundreds of visitors could attend," CKM said.

As they add, the Montenegrin National Council, which is the topmost institution of the Montenegrin community in Serbia, does not have adequate facilities for work, and for the organization of the cultural evenings, due to the indecision of some of its members who have done everything to prevent the Council to work in the right way.

"Our organization has repeatedly addressed the competent institutions with this proposal, but unfortunately we did not even get an answer. We believe that Djukanovic from his position will contribute to supporting the construction of the Montenegrin cultural center," CKM points out.

According to them, if Serbia can allocate hundreds of thousands of euros per year for the needs of the Serbian National Community in Montenegro, Montenegro can also allocate symbolic funds for the Montenegrin community in Serbia.

It is about time to make a step forward in organizing marketing events to specific issues so that the Montenegrin name in Serbia will not be extinct. We all know that in the last list the number of citizens of Serbia who declare themselves as Montenegrins has halved and that Montenegro has not reacted to this fact, "it was concluded by the CKM.
