27 September 2018 - Due to the great interest of citizens, as well as facilitating the release of the procedures for importing vehicles into Montenegro, the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs announced that the deadline for the implementation of the new EURO standards will be extended and it will be effective from November 15, 2018.

Total Montenegro News reminds that the new rule says that any imported passenger or freight vehicle must be equipped with a motor of the minimum standard EURO 4, whereas a brand new vehicle must have the EURO 6 minimum standard.

“The Ministry has drafted amendments to the Rulebook on technical requirements for imported vehicles or those that are placed on the Montenegrin market for the very first time. This Rulebook also defines the minimum limit value regarding exhaust emission and noise level for new and used motor vehicles,” as noted by the Ministry.

In the forthcoming period, the Ministry will carry out the Study of the age structure of vehicles by categories and types, and it will give basic indicators and measures for rejuvenating the rolling pool and increasing safety degrees in traffic.

EURO 4 regulation limits the emission of harmful gases in new vehicles. EURO 6 motors reduce pollution and control fuel consumption.
