08 August, 2018 - A traditional tourist three-day event "Durmitor Healthy Food Days" was opened at the Culture Centre in Žabljak by the director of the Culture Centre Miroje Džabasan, after which the eager visitors rushed to the booths.
The event began on Monday, August 6th, with an exhibition of paintings in the hall of the Culture Centre at 11 AM. The painters from Žabljak, Koviljka Raonić and Milovan Popović, and Aida Trkulj Kaltak from Pljevlja exhibited their works. The exhibition gathered about forty paintings, graphics and oil on canvas, with the motifs mostly of the Balkans region.
Tuesday was reserved for the exhibition of healthy Durmitor food also at the Culture Centre, starting at 11 AM, where numerous visitors had the opportunity to taste local pies, cakes, pastries and cookies, various types of local cheese, as well as products from forest fruits stored in a traditional manner. All interested parties could visit the exhibition, taste and buy the mentioned healthy products. According to the exhibitors, all the food that was served was completely organic. By preparing healthy local dishes, farmers from Žabljak contributed to the current tourist season in the North.
On August 8, at 3 PM at the Black Lake, a tasting of the local dish “kačamak” was organized, along with the performance of the folk ensemble "Korak" from Žabljak. This event, in cooperation with Durmitor local farmers, was organized for the eighth time, in order to promote real Durmitor values. From year to year, the local offer is richer and the event is visited more than ever.
This project was made under the program "Development of Culture in the North". The "Durmitor Healthy Food Days" event is traditionally held in August. Its aim is to promote small producers of domestic food and to enrich the cultural content of the city. The value of the project is 6,000 euros. The project's organiser is the Culture Centre Žabljak.
