29 October 2018 - The Cheese Festival titled “Golden Slice” (Montenegrin: “Zlatna kriška“), an event that brings together cheese producers from all over Montenegro, will be held on Friday, November 2nd, at the Independence Square in Podgorica. The organizer of this event is the "Try Local Products" cluster (Montenegrin: (Probaj domaće”), while the Capital of Montenegro is the patron of the festival.

Visitors will be able to taste and buy young cheese from Kolašin and Pljevlja, as well as other types of cheese, made according to traditional recipes from other parts of Montenegro. The aim of the festival is to gather local producers in the centre of Montenegro and present the diversity and quality of the well-known Montenegrin cheese. Cow cheese, goat cheese, young, old cheese, from the vicinity of Podgorica, Nikšić, Danilovgrad, Berane, Bijelo Polje and Petnjica, are just some of the cheese types that will be offered within the event. The festival is an ideal opportunity to see and try some of the products that are not available in supermarkets.

According to the organizers, the event will include accompanying activities – a prize ceremony and a music program at the Square. The organizers gave the festival a symbolic name – “Golden Slice”, and this title will also be used for the prize that will be given to the best-rated cheeses.
