Podgorica finally got an indoor water polo pool within the Moraca Sports Centre. It will be open next week. The importance of the facility for Podgorica is shown by the fact that the Water Polo Federation announced that the match of the preliminary part of the World League, between Montenegro and Serbia, will be played at this pool.

Citizens will be able to use the pool at reasonable ticket prices.

The CdM team had an exclusive opportunity to visit the new magnificent structure with the mayor of Podgorica, Slavoljub Stijepovic.

The pool meets world standards and it is equipped with all accompanying amenities. It is adapted for people with disabilities. The project cost €2.2m.

The mayor told CdM that a multifunctional hall for indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, handball, footsal and martial arts is being built within the Moraca Sports Centre, in the immediate vicinity of the swimming pool. It will contain a temporary swimming poll construction.

“By implementing this project, we will get the most beautiful facility of this kind in this part of Europe. The project is being implemented in the form of a private-public partnership with the Basketball Association, and its contracted value is €4.2m,” said Stijepovic.
