The organizers of the Forum on the Importance of remaining on the UNESCO World Heritage List for NP Durmitor invited citizens of Zabljak, Durmitor lovers and others interested to attend the panel "Durmitor and UNESCO", where participants will have the opportunity to talk about the complexity of the protection and preservation of the Durmitor National Park and its status on the UNESCO list.
The panel will be held on Saturday, May 4th, at Zabljak. The event will take place in the Municipal Assembly hall of the Zabljak municipality, and will start at 4 p.m.
Participants of the forum "Durmitor and UNESCO" will be Milica Nikolic from the Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO, Milenko Stijepovic, former director of NP Durmitor, biologist Aleksandar Perovic (NGO CZIP) and tour guides Milos Lazarevic, Vera Djerkovic and Dane Novosel. The moderator will be journalist Aleksandra Mudresa.
"We will elaborate on topics that are important not only to preserve the state of the natural values and status, but also the concept of further development of this area. The panel will be opened also for the citizens who are interested in presenting their vision of the development of NP Durmitor. The Secretary-General of the Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO will point to the core values for which Durmitor has been added to the UNESCO list, the international obligations arising from the Convention, and the way in which it is possible to further address the issue of the UNESCO status of the area. The forum is open to the public, therefore give your contribution to the preservation of Durmitor, this unique and outstanding jewel of nature," said the organizers of the forum - the citizens of Zabljak.
