Potential Devastation of Školj: Word from Experts

October 17, 2018 - A discussion on the "Potential devastation of Školj - a Word from Experts" will be held on Thursday, 18 October, at 5.30 pm at the Palm Square in the Old Town of Budva.

Školj is a local name for the island of St. Nicholas for which the Montenegrin Government announced concession for the purpose of building a tourist resort.

The introductory part of the discussion will be spoken by prof. Dr. Sreten Vujović, urban sociologist, prof. Dr Rade Ratković, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Tourism in Budva, Architect Borislav Vukićević and Vuk Iković from Kod Organization, who wrote a doctoral thesis on "The Impact of Construction on the Marine Ecosystem". The event moderator will be Iva Pavlović, TV Budva editor.

This discussion takes place as part of the accompanying program of the exhibition "Lament against the Island of Saint Nicholas" by renowned Budva painter Slobodan Bob Slovinic. At the opening of the exhibition, a conversation with the author was held and a talk about Saint Nicholas's island from an artistic perspective.

With this event, NGO Feral wants to emphasize the enormous value that Saint Nicholas Island has for Budva and its citizens. These values are layered, so the program itself deals with issues about Školj from the artistic, professional and social perspective.

At the closing of the exhibition, 21 October, also at Palm Square at 5.30 pm, the "Školj Talks" will be attended by Budva and Paštrovići citizens and fishermen. This event will be moderated by Dušica Vugledić, TV Budva journalist.
