October 14, 2018 - A rafter from Zabljak Dane Novosel claims that the situation on the Tara river is catastrophic and accuses the Director of the National Park Durmitor, Tomo Pajovic.

Responding to Pajovic's allegations that the Durmitor National Park broke records this year regarding visits and incomes, Novosel said the "Tear of Europe" is full of garbage.

"He should be ashamed and embarrassed by the situation in the NP and the Tara River. I'm on the river every day, and that mister (Pajovic) maybe once in 12 years, as long as I've been in the rafting business. The condition on the river in one word is a disaster. There are millions of pieces of rubber at the starting point - Radovan port. Guests are appalled when they see that while we are driving them up and they cannot believe how much rubber, plastic bags, and garbage is on a 40-kilometer-long section. We only counted the tires and reached a three-digit number. Shame, we pay every day, and we do not know for what and to whom."

Pajovic did not want to comment about the charges.

Novosel claims that Pajovic never initiated a Tara cleaning campaign or any other, or that he never set up at least a bench or table.

"Twelve years we are constantly listening to Pajovic, as well as from other  'park lovers' that dressing rooms, changing rooms, ramps for lowering boats into the river will be made. They are one incompetent team of non-working people, manipulators. I wonder if there is someone in the National Parks of Montenegro who will come and see the situation at Durmitor National Park. To see a disgraceful and chaotic picture in the Tara canyon, how the guests change out of their clothes and jump in naked at the Žugic's harbor, they go in the bushes, they do their business wherever they have a chance and go away with such a picture and memories of Tara. The whole season goes by, and the 'park lovers' did not have the means to have a single garbage bin placed at Zugic port. The trash is dumped in the bushes and in the forest."

Novosel says that Durmitor National Park has no money because all revenues go to Podgorica.

"Well, baskets, benches, and tables are made of wood, so at least those can be done, and now every time we rafters are lied to and charged for everything, even the air, and they do not invest a single cent. I would be ashamed about that. This condition is terrible and sad."

Novosel claims that jeep tours are also illegally charged.

"Pajovic should provide us with information on how much they earned from the jeep tours this summer so that those who paid for it will sue them for something they were charged for with no grounds. My experience in the litigation in which I was charged and acquitted says that there is no legal basis for it."
