704 Teachers at State University, One Third with an Associate Status

October 9, 2018 - At the University of Montenegro UCG, 704 teachers are employed, with over one-third of them having a status of an associate. Interestingly, the majority of teachers are female. Namely, University data shows that the majority of teachers were employed at the Faculty of Philology 100, while the least were employed at the Institute of History 10.

At the Faculty of Natural Sciences, 73 teachers are employed, and 61 at the Faculty of Fine Arts. The following is the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, where there are 49 teachers, as well as the Faculty of Economics and Biotechnology with 46, i.e. 45 teachers. The number of them at Construction faculty is 42, Mechanic 29, while Law and Metallurgical Technology have an equal number of 28 each. The Faculty of Fine Arts has one less - 27, the Faculty of Drama Arts 26, the Maritime Faculty of Kotor 22, and 20 of them are at the Architectural and Medical faculty. One less teacher is at the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education in Nikšić.

At the Academy of Music, 17 are employed, 16 at the Institute of Marine Biology, 13 in the faculties of political sciences and the tourism and hotel industry, and 10 at the Institute of History, it is written in the Self-evaluation Report of the University, noting that the report does not include categories such as lab technicians, senior lab technicians, professional associates, senior associates, lecturers and senior lecturers, as well as professors who are in a supplementary work relationship with the University. As a percentage of the total number of teachers employed at the State University, the associates make up about 37 percent, the regular professors 24 percent, some less than 20 percent, and the docents make up 19.18 percent. The document also states that female teachers are more dominant than male teachers. They make up 51.70 percent.

Viewed by categories, there are more full-time professors than their female colleagues - 114 to 56. On the other hand, the extraordinary female professors – 73 in total - are more than the extraordinary male professors which count 67 in this academic year. When teachers are in question, the members of the female gender are more dominant, and they count 70, which is five more than their male colleagues. Male associates at the faculties of the University of Montenegro count 94, and female associates count 165.

It is interesting to note that when the age structure at the state university is concerned, we have only one regular professor who belongs to the age group of 31 to 40 years. Most of them, however, have more than 50 years – in total 125, while regular professors who are between 41 and 50 years average 44 years. 

There are 19 senior professors aged between 31 and 40, followed by 75 who are between 41 and 50, while 46 are over 50.

The University of Montenegro can also boast one of the docents belonging to the age group 31 to 40. There are 56 docents who are between the ages of 31 and 40 while there is one more in the age group between 41 and 50 years. There are 21 docents over 50 years. When the associates are concerned, the highest number is between 31 and 40 years (126), while in the group of 21 to 30 there are 64, in the 41 to 50 group there are 42, and there are 27 female associates who are more than 50 years old.
