October 3, 2018 - Citizens will have to separate wet and dry waste so that such sorted waste can be taken by “Cistoca” to the city dump.

"Dry waste is paper, cardboard, metals and glass while wet includes all household waste," states the decision on the method of waste separation collection and collection of utility waste for processing in the territory of Podgorica, which is at a public hearing.

The decision is that waste must be separated by type and properties.

"Therefore, citizens will have to separate dry and wet waste, so there will be two bins. It will be necessary to work on the education of citizens, but it is a process that lasts," said the Secretariat for Utility Affairs and Transport.

The decision also specified fines for a company engaged in waste transportation if the procedure is not respected.

"The company 'Cistoca' will charge a fine of 150 to 10,000 euros if citizens place waste in a container that is not intended for the type or if they put biodegradables and waste from gardens into the bin and to a location not intended for that type," it is specified in the decision in the territory of Podgorica.

The penalty is also prescribed for a company in charge of a legal entity of 20 to a thousand euros if they do not separate utility waste. For this offense there is also a fine for the company of EUR 50 to EUR 2,000 and for a person from EUR 20 to EUR 500.
