"15 Decades of Boka Navy in Photographs" in Split

October 2, 2018 - The Split audience will have the opportunity to meet the Boka Navy through a photo exhibition, displaying documentary photos of the oldest maritime organization in the world. This exhibiton is a fruit of cooperation between maritime museums of Croatia and Montenegro.

The Maritime Museum of Montenegro is organizing the exhibition "15 Decades of the Boka Navy on Photographs", which will open at the Maritime Museum in Split on Wednesday at 7 pm.

The exhibition will be supplemented with the presentation of the film by Dušan Vuleković “Circle Dance of Boka Navy”. The authors, Curator of the Maritime Museum in Kotor, Ilija Mlinarević and Slavko Dabinovic will present this small part of the rich history of the oldest seafarers' association in the world - the Boka Navy Kotor, whose longstanding existence witnesses the rich maritime and cultural past of Kotor and Boka.

At the exhibition opening, the audience will be addressed by Director of the Croatian Maritime Museum Split, Dr. Danka Radić, Director of the Montenegrin Maritime Museum in Kotor, Andro Radulović, and co-author of the exhibition, Slavko Dabinović. 

The cooperation between the Maritime Museum in Split and the Maritime Museum in Kotor was restored by the exhibition dedicated to the Vis Battle of 1866 entitled "Iron Men on Wooden Boats" organized by the Maritime Museum of Montenegro, the Croatian Museum of Split and the Archaeological Museum in Split, which was opened in 2017 at the Grgurina palace in Kotor, said the Montenegrin Maritime Museum.
