July 1, 2018 - Modern countries that keep track of contemporary market conditions aim to provide excellent conditions for international tech companies looking to test and develop new IT solutions. Furthermore, it is of great importance to offer world-class IT infrastructure, so that consumers are willing to play an active part in developing new technologies as well. To be titled as a “digital country”, the willingness to embrace new technologies and transform working procedures is highly appreciated.

In accordance with the mentioned above, the Montenegrin Minister of Economy, Ms. Dragica Sekulić opened a workshop on the topic "Digital Montenegro - Chances and Challenges" on June 29, 2018, organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Public Administration for representatives of state institutions. The aim of the workshop was to get acquainted with the values of the digital economy and the digital transformation of public administration, as well as the development potential of Montenegro in the way of building an information society. The Minister expressed her opinion of the importance that Montenegro heads for the digital economy and social development: ”Digital transformation is a great opportunity for Montenegro, as it offers a chance for small and smart systems to quickly solve problems when functioning and to become competitive on a global level”. She explained that Montenegro must focus on creating the adequate infrastructure for the development of digital performance and digital competitiveness: “When we talk about digital transformation, it is necessary to understand that it is a multi-dimensional process that must be harmonized and continuous. An information society and digital economy cannot exist without powerful infrastructure, modern telecommunications and IT networks”. Ms. Sekulić added how although the infrastructure and networks of the new generation are the most complex and expensive components of digitization, citizens and the economy are more interested in services and content.
