May 24, 2018 - At the annual Council of British International Schools conference, held in London on May 13,  Arcadia Academy from Kotor won first place in the Young Scientist Film Awards in the seventh, eighth and ninth grade categories.

Students of the Arcadia School prepared a short film, a recording of a scientific experiment that aroused the great applause of those present at the prize-giving ceremony in London, from the official representatives of 150 other international schools that competed for this major prize, to other top names in the field of education. The Arcadia Academy film has been rated as an excellent combination of biology, physics, chemistry, and robotics and computer science.

"We are unbelievably happy because this is an international award and a great recognition for the enormous effort of our students and teachers. Now the entire world will hear about the Arcadia Academy and Montenegro. It is also a great success that our school is small in comparison to the other participants, but we saw that, in the end, we were judged by quality," said Milija Bozovic, academic director of Arcadia Academy.

Ana Nikolic, professor of natural sciences, shared more details about the experiment itself: "It is a great honor and privilege to show dominance at such a level and in such an international competition. This sympathetic experiment, called “Ooblek", has, with reason, picked up the sympathy and criticisms of the best scientists from its field and won the first place at COBIS's prestigious competition. I am extremely proud of my students who have done their best and invested a lot of effort and time to make the film exactly the way we thought it was best from the beginning. For us, it was a great challenge to make a good movie with a precise scientific explanation, phenomenal talents and dig it all in two and a half minutes, which was one of the criteria. It was a pleasure working on this project, especially when you have pupils full of ideas, innovation, enthusiasm, and desires for success around you. We carefully selected an experiment, wanting to show something new, so far unseen in this area, unusual and interesting to all ages."
