The construction of the transformer station 35/10 kV in Novi Ulcinj, worth two million euro, will enable a more qualitative electricity supply for 8.600 citizens in this municipality.

This price includes the construction of three 35 kV and seven 10 kV cable lines, said the Montenegrin electro-distributional system (CEDIS).

“The transformer station in Novi Ulcinj is in the phase of its functional inspection after which the technical acceptance will take place. If the following phases are to be successfully completed, it is expected that TS will be operational before the commencement of the summer season and will supply electricity for 3.073 citizens from Pinješ, Nova mahala, Metriz, Pristan, Stari grad, as well as the hotels “Albatros”, “Mediteran” and “Holegro”, said CEDIS and emphasized that a better electricity supply should be expected for 5.527 users from the town’s center.

By realizing this project, the summer overload of the transformer station 110/35 kV in Kodra to the station 35/10 kV in Grad will be solved.

“This facility is essential as an infrastructural pre-condition for the tourist valorization of the municipality of Ulcinj and the increase of hotel capacities. It creates a possibility for the development of 10 kV networks and the connection of new individual and residential-commercial buildings”, said CEDIS and added that this is the most important but also the most demanding project financially and by construction, which will ensure more qualitative electricity supply to the citizens of Ulcinj, especially in the summer when consumption is more significant.

The transformer station project in Novi Ulcinj includes embedding three underground cable lines from 35 and seven from 10 kV. This, as empathized by CEDIS, is not possible without the excavation of the streets in sections where the cables will be placed.

“Works on the route for the transformer station in Novi Ulcinj often cause complaints by the citizens because the work slows down the normal life in the town. Therefore, we have agreed with the Municipality’s representatives to stop with the works until the excavated streets are brought back to their original state”, said CEDIS.

They added that they would fulfill the mentioned agreement, which is sustained by the fact that the repair works started on the first day after the Easter holidays and will continue today.

The concrete works should be completed today from the transformer station in Novi Ulcinj to the roundabout throughout the area of Pinjes. By May 1st, they will concrete the roundabout in Ulcinj and the transformer station 110/35 kV Kodra is expected to be finished.

“These are demanding works which require proper planning and timing to achieve the needed quality. Bad weather conditions in the previous periods should be taken into consideration which prolonged the activities and the deadlines”, CEDIS pointed out and added that after the repair of the existing routes, the citizens would be timely informed regarding the following works.

If the excavations are to be approved, the complete concreting of all the surfaces are to be executed after the placement of the cables.

“If the municipality of Ulcinj will demand that all the routes are concreted before the continuance of works, the completion of the facility before the commencement of tourist season is under the question. For such important investments which contribute to the welfare of the society, patience and understanding are necessary to complete the works for everyone’s benefit”, emphasized CEDIS and added that besides the construction of the transformer station in Novi Ulcinj, they also have other investments planned for this year worth two million euro.

By the end of last year and the beginning of this year, CEDIS has completed tenders and signed contracts for the construction of cable lines from the transformer station in Velika plaza 2 to the transformer station Madzo 2 and Brastsvo and jedinstvo, as well as St. Nikola worth 56.000 euro.

“Contracts for the construction of four transformer stations 10/0,4 kV were signed for nearly 200.000 euro. Also, the contract for the realization of 10 kV underground cables was signed worth 620.000 euro, and by the beginning of the summer season, we expect the completion of another ten projects worth 213.000 euros", said CEDIS.
