Total investment in telecommunication networks and services in 2017 exceeded €82 million, according to the Ministry of Economy. Most money was invested in the development of optical systems and the LTE (mobile network technology) which deliver very fast data speeds.

State secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Milan Srzentic, says the number of electronic communications users in Montenegro continues to grow, i.e. where one of the countries of Europe with the highest number of mobile phone users. Srzentic added the government’s program and strategic goals include favorable conditions for the development of telecommunication networks and wide application of information and communications technology (ICT) in public administration, economic activities and society as a whole.

The main goal is all Montenegrin towns to harness the Internet’s benefits to the same degree, according to Srzentic. He says the Government will continue with its plans to encourage investments in networks development, by using existing infrastructure of energy, municipal, railway and other enterprises owned by the state.
