In 2017, the Military formation of the Montenegrin defense consisted of 1.769 soldiers, as stated in the Military status report for last year, adopted by the Government at the latest assembly.  

According to the data in the report, among 1.796 military employees, there are 237 officers, 470 sub-officers, 243 civilians, while 549 soldiers are engaged per contracts. There are 177 women employed in the Military (70 women are professional soldiers and 107 women are civilians in the Military service). 

“The average age of employees in the Military is 40. The most unfavorable age structure is among the sub-officers – 43. The most favorable is among the soldiers per contracts and it is 32," as stated further in the document by the Ministry of Defense.

During 2017, as far as the foreign missions are concerned, Military employees were engaged in four international missions.

In 2017, as the report also states, 32.716.939,05 euro was approved to the Military from the budget.
