September 3, 2018 - The Montenegrin Government is planning to renew the tender for the rental and construction of tourist facilities on river island “Ada Bojana” in autumn, and the only bidder for the tender is the famous German tour operator TUI which expressed the willingness to invest a million euros in the river island, as reported by the Montenegrin daily press, Dan.

The artificial river island, Ada Bojana, is located in the southernmost part of the Montenegrin coast. Away from the noisy streets and filled with beautiful sandy beaches, visitors of this river island always end up breath-taken with the natural beauty surrounding the landscape. Ada is a famous tourist destination of Montenegro, found between the blue river Bojana on two sides and the cleanest sparkling sea water on the third side. Judging by the beautiful landscapes of the Montenegrin summer jewel, it’s not a surprise that the Germans investors are showing interest in this land.

The tender announcement is expected in November, given that no unexpected problems arise in the meantime, and the Government expects to start one of the biggest investments in tourism on the Montenegrin coast very soon, as explained by the source of Dan.

In the previous period, the Board for Tourism Valorization of Ada Bojana sent a public call to all strategic international investors with proven experience in designing, constructing, managing and advertising exclusive tourist complexes, to make a pre-tender assessment regarding the construction and later management of the exclusive, natural tourist complex on Ada Bojana. The intention of the Montenegrin Government was to implement a high level sustainable development model that is of high quality, creative and aesthetically refined, with the commitment that Ada Bojana remains a complex which will include resorts that can coexist with natural environment. The bidders were expected to use architecture, design and engineering to the highest international standards, but also a style that is in line with the natural environment. The mentioned tender for investment in Ada Bojana was canceled in October 2009, after no bids were submitted within the deadline, even though numerous companies expressed the interest for investing.

TUI Group (Touristik Union International), which is now showing interest in Ada Bojana, is a German travel and tourism company headquartered in Hannover, Germany. It is one of the largest leisure, travel and tourism companies in the world, and it owns travel agencies, hotels, airlines, cruise ships and retail stores. The group owns six European airlines, which make the largest holiday fleet in Europe, and nine tour operators based in Europe. TUI has been present in Ulcinj, Montenegro since May, 2018, as a strategic partner of the company Karisma Hotels & Resorts, which opened Holiday Village Montenegro complex on the Great Beach in Ulcinj before the beginning of the tourist season. TUI Group owns 1,600 travel agencies and leading portals, six tourist airlines with 150 planes, more than 300 hotels with 214,000 beds, 16 cruise boats and a large number of travel agencies.
