June 26, 2018 - The authorities of Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) are in the process of finalizing plans to introduce a flight between Sarajevo and Skopje through Podgorica.

According to the draft agreement between the states, all air carriers, including those outside the three countries, will be invited to provide services that will be subsidized, states EX-Yu Aviation. "Discussions on establishing this route are in progress. These flights will contribute to improving the connection between the three capitals," said Velimir Šljivančanin from the Montenegrin Embassy in Sarajevo.

The Prime Minister of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, recently said that the content of the agreement between Macedonia, Montenegro, and BiH has been established and will be forwarded to all airline companies operating in the region, reports Capital.ba.

The airline companies will be required to submit their bids.

Zaev added that Bulgaria could join the regional initiative.

The Governments of Montenegro, Macedonia, and BiH believe that a new route will boost trade, tourism and people's mobility.

Flydubai is the only foreign company to conduct flights on the mentioned route, and last winter it introduced seasonal flights between Sarajevo and Podgorica.

Former airline BH Airlines, owned by the state, flew on the route Sarajevo-Skopje for several years.
