Under the agreement of the Montenegrin and Chinese government on economic and technical cooperation, China will allocate an additional non-refundable 20 million yuan (CNY), i.e. EUR 2.63 million for the bridge reconstruction on Djurdjevica Tara and other projects.

The new agreement, as announced by the Government office for Public Relations, was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister Milutin Simovic and Chinese Ambassador in Montenegro Cui Zhi Wei.

"The feasibility study of the bridge reconstruction project, based on the agreement on economic and technical cooperation signed in May last year, has been carried out by the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for verification, after which it will be delivered to the Montenegrin Government", it was stated. According to the Chinese company’s information, the feasibility study has shown that the original funds allocated based on last year's agreement, also in the amount of CNY 20 million, will not be enough for the reconstruction of the bridge, which is why they are ready to donate an additional 20 million CNY and sign a new agreement with the Government of Montenegro. Simovic thanked them for the additional donation and said that he is looking forward to the considerable attention the Chinese government paid to the reconstruction of the Djurdjevica Tara bridge. He said he hopes that all preparatory works and procedures will be completed soon and that conditions for the commencement of the bridge works will be created shortly. Simovic recalled that it had repeatedly been stated that the bridge represents a symbol of friendship between the two states, which is further assured by the emotions Chinese tourists and citizens working on projects in Montenegro show when visiting this facility.

"Symbolically, the bridge on Djurdjevica Tara connects a very large geographical distance, between Montenegro and China. It is a symbol of common anti-fascist values, the victims that the two countries suffered in the struggle against fascism and occupiers - for the freedom of our nations and states," said Simovic.

Upon signing the contract between the Clinical Center of Montenegro and the company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), he stated that this was an additional confirmation of trust that foreign citizens working Montenegro have in the Clinical Center and the health services provided by our system.

"CRBC, as a responsible company, relied entirely on the Clinic Center with full certainty," said Simovic, adding that he was sure that the Clinic Center would justify the shown trust.

He thanked them for the confidence the Chinese have expressed in this regard towards the Montenegrin health system. With this support, in the total amount of 500,000 euro, they will help the Clinic Center to expand the capacities of the intensive care sector and improve the quality of service and care for the patients in need of the same.

Cui Zhi Wei said he was satisfied with the signing of the health care contract and the new agreement on economic and technical cooperation, which confirm the genuine friendship and cooperation between the two countries. "A new donation of 20 million CNY will be used after the suggestion of the Chinese Ministry of Trade for financing the reconstruction of the bridge on Djurdjevica Tara, as the bridge is in the hearts of Montenegrin and Chinese people, and the new agreement will speed up all the necessary procedures for commencement of the works," said Cui Zhi Wei.
