Green Businesses Growing in Montenegro Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism

April 27, 2018 - The United Nations’ coordinator, officials from the United Nations Development Programme and the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism in Montenegro signed a contract to finance the project “Green Business Growth in Montenegro". A "green business" produces low carbons and is eco-friendly. This project is estimated at 800.000 USD, and its primary goal is to promote investments in such businesses, mainly coming from private investors. By following this programme, economic growth and economic activities would undoubtedly expand, there are more job opportunities in general, and at the same time, the country is implementing new mechanisms that take care for the environment, while reducing climate change.

The main activities that are featured in this project are making laws and regulations easier and less complicated, which is a big step in making “green businesses” attractive and available for everyone. Also, the country is doing its job in supporting all kinds of initiatives regarding starting a green business, questions regarding green companies and opening this type of business in general. They are providing help and support for every entrepreneur that has interest in this sphere of work.

The whole project is gathered around creating a “green incubator” which will serve as a platform for training entrepreneurs, individual mentoring, consulting help and advice, while also providing support through help during accumulating of all kinds of accreditations and licenses. At the same time, this project will promote “green businesses" by sharing information of the perks of a “green businesses” to the private sector, government, households and community in general.
