The Tivat town quay, with the old three-masted Jadran ship in the background, looks as if it was designed for the spotlight with a painted seascape backdrop. It’s always nice to see and hear about something special going on there at night, and on Saturday, May 19th, the Tivat tourism organization brought the touching sounds of Argentinian tango to our local dance floor.

May 22, 2018 - Inspired by the Montenegrin school of tango and salsa dancing Buena Vista from Podgorica, the Tivat TO already arranged tango nights downtown last season, and this year they hinvited the fantastic Serbian tango band called Libercuatro. The enchanting female vocals of Natasa Radovanovic and Branislava Podrumac attracted even more people to the small but busy dance floor in front of the modified ship.

Milonga del Mar - which is what the dancers call this seaside event – started before sunset and continued even after the concert was over. Everyone enjoyed the passionate moves of the tango dancers and joined them on the dance floor if they wished. The Libercuatro band played both traditional tango music as well as new style tango by Astor Piazzolla (called tango nuevo) and the pearls of Nefeli's Tango (music by Loreena Mckennitt)  which is widely known as Greek tango.
