05 October 2018 - Within the framework of the cross-border project "Adriatic canyoning", the Agency for Construction and Development of Herceg Novi is planning to open an Adventure Park on Vrbanj by the end of October, which would support further development of the city of Herceg Novi. Implementation of the Adventure Park on Vrbanj is evidence of a high-quality cooperation between the member countries of the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2014-2020.
Vrbanj is the favorite mountain resort of citizens from Herceg Novi and tourists who come to visit the city. Within the Vrbanj area, there are restaurants, taverns, apartments, hiking lodges and sports grounds. Also, Vrbanj is the starting point for going to the depths of Mount Orjen. For walking, there are marked hiking trails to Katun Žukovica (1h), Vučji do (1: 30h) and Poljice (2: 30h).
For more ambitious mountaineers, the most attractive routes are the one to Veliki Kabl (1894 m), the main peak of Mount Orjen and the highest point of the coastal Dinarides (4 h) and the even more demanding trail to Subra (1679 m), which is also 4 hours away from the starting point.
According to the director of the Agency for the Construction and Development of Herceg Novi, Boro Lučić, this is a big project, which holds great meaning for the development of the Municipality of Herceg Novi. The opening of this adventure park is scheduled for October 21st. According to the representatives of the Agency, the total investment in this project amounts to about 300,000 EUR.
During a statement for television, Lučić said that the Agency is also planning to open a market where eco-food will be sold at the mentioned location, so the Adventure Park will attract opportunities for many different “side activities”.
The Adventure Park will complement Herceg Novi's tourist offer, so that tourists of this city, aside from enjoying the beach, will also have the opportunity to try the so-called "active tourism".
