31 July, 2018 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Srđan Darmanović is currently staying in Washington and during this occasion he met with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Wess Mitchell.

Minister Darmanović expressed satisfaction with very good allied relations, and he emphasized the importance of maintaining the proactive role of the United States in the Western Balkans region.

Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell pointed out the excellent bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He praised the leadership and stabilizing role of Montenegro in the region and expressed the support of the United States of America for the progress of Montenegro on the road to EU membership.

The two officials exchanged views on the challenges facing Europe, as well as in the Western Balkans region, and agreed to continue the intensive political dialogue.

During his visit to Washington, Minister Darmanović also met with Heather Conley, Vice President of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for Europe, Eurasia and the Arctic and the Director of Europe for this Think Tank organization, as well as with Mr. Damon Wilson, Executive Vice President Atlantic Council.

The representatives of both countries discussed various topics regarding the security, stability, prosperity of the country of Montenegro, but also the cooperation between the two countries.
